Or just so hopelessly complex they appear realistic to someone who knows nothing about engineering. (because I know nothing about it).
thats a kind of clever way to start a new thread bashing the movie, i guess. way to go?ShadowBoxing said:Or just so hopelessly complex they appear realistic to someone who knows nothing about engineering. (because I know nothing about it).
Wolfwood said:I don't know, I guess they look more organic now, kind of Beast Wars-ish.
CFlash said:To me, they look more inspired by Bionicle than Transformers. Worse... they're pretty much a carbon copy of some of the old more organic looking Gobots Renegades. None of the pics we've seen- as "cool" as some may think they are- evoke Transformers (IMHO).
Substance D said:Yeah, they are. They cheated alot with the transformations in the cartoon. Parts would change size, or completely disappear. In the movie versions, all the original car parts look intact in robot mode, even the interiors and engine parts to a certain extent. In that regard, they are more realistic.
Substance D said:Um, I don't think the toys take into account all the underworking of the vehicle.
We're not debating if it's totally realistic, just which version is more so.
nosebleed said:That's why I said partially.
Well, compared to a cartoon made in 1984 they are more realistic. I just think that with today's technology and with the proper engineers that they could have done a realistic job while still evoking the proper nostalgia of the classic Transformers.

Look at our technological history the older the device the more clunky the device. Take the computer for example what once took up full rooms with moving parts can now fit in your pocket such as PDA’s and etc. The longer technology exist the sleeker the designs become.
With a race of Robotic life forms billons of years old you would think that their Robot forms would be more advanced looking. And for a race of warriors what since does it make to have vital systems unprotected.
Their technology is way beyond that of humans so making them look over complicated looking actually makes them appear to be less advanced than what we know as Transformers.
Substance D said:These were my exact thoughts when I first saw the movie designs all those months ago...
I've come to realize that appearances can be deceiving. They look like they are made up of car parts. That's because they transform from cars. If someone opened up BB's hood while he was in alt mode, they would see all the parts. When they transform, all those parts can't just disappear, can they?
Substance D said:I think largly, most of the car parts are just superficial. They're just nanomachines that have taken the form of car parts. So, they actually are more advanced than anything on Earth, they're just in disguise.
The nanomachines also allow for them to heal certain wounds, so armor wouldn't be needed.
CFlash said:They should see BB's face staring back at them.t:
I'm just kidding. What you say makes sense.
That would give me nightmares... or be really funny![]()
But apparently sorely missed. Because they're not so advance as be impervious to [blackout]liquid nitrogen[/blackout]. lol.

1987olds442 said:I never really saw a point in making them even look mechanical the same as earth vehicles an outer shell is enough it is just a disguise after all. Like in Transformers: Infiltration when Ratchet was being repaired in the garage Jimmy mentions that he has never seen anything like this when he was working on Ratchets suspension.
That makes for a better reveal IMO.CFlash said:A similar thing in Transformers Issue #1 when Buster(Spike) is trying to fix Bumblebee in his garage.
