Comics Are you ready for the SECOND COMING of the Mutant Messiah?

Scottie Young is pretty good. His Quest for Magik art looked great in New X-men

Skottie Young is not meant to draw superhero comics, he's perfect on things like the Wizard of Oz minis they are doing.

would someone mind filling me in on Hope's blood connection to the summers? did i miss is or was it not explained because in Cable vol1 [blackout]when cable blew up cerebra, her eyes reflected the pheonix. is hope actually jean?[/blackout]

My guess:
[blackout] Probably.... Especially since they have her alive in the new Wolverine cartoon, so if they intend to try and bring the viewers into comics, they have to bring her back.[/blackout]

We dont know but there has been strong Jean hints since Hope was created. Marvel loves to tease and they wont reveal it till next year

I wouldnt be surprised if it were Jean finally being truely reborn. Just hope if it is they dont kill her off ever again anytime in teh future.

I don't see what the cartoon has to do with this. That was revealed a while ago if I'm not mistaken, and if they wanted to capitalize on it like that, they would have brought her back in the comics around the same time.

If I've said it once, I've said it before, if it was Jean, Cable especially would know it by now. Hell, when Logan would have met her in Messiah War, even if she was a little girl, he would have at least seen something to remind him of her. Like it was said before, Marvel loves to make hints, but some of these are as subtle as getting hit over the head with a frying pan that any shock factor is null and void if she does turn out to be Jean.

Cyclops feels highly protective of Hope though and she could be the resurrection of the Phoenix.

He's highly protective of her because she's supposed to be the savior of mutantkind, and he's essentially the leader of all the mutants that are left on the planet. Of course he'll be protective of her. He's taken on the responsibility of trying to make sure his people survive and if she can help his race thrive again, he's going to do everything in his power to help her.

Cyclops has done a great job at seperating his emotions from his position as leader to the X-men. I dont think he's protective bc he personally cares about Hope bc he doesnt. I dont think he's thinking she has any connection to Jean or Phoenix

As a Cable fan, I'm quite curious about the future of his series, as it is shockingly not a part of "Second Coming" and there has been no confirmation that the series will continue after issue #25. Is it canceled, suspended, or getting rebooted? Here's hoping Marvel gives the series the support it deserves…

Are you sure that "Cable" will make it through #25? It'd be hard to have a Cable series starring someone else.

Mike is curious about a certain cute little redhead…and one other cute little redhead. There sure are a lot of those in the X-world!

I would love to see how Rachel Summer's future world relates to Hope. Any chance this will be revealed?

Do you mean the "Days of Future Past" future? I think that's what you mean. With all the time-travel comings and goings X-side of the universe, I don't know whether that future exists and if it does, I don't think we'll have a second to go there.

Chad M. Murray hates to be teased. Is it within your mutant abilities to make him feel loved?

1) Editors and writers keep mentioning how Hope has green eyes and red hair, clearly linking her to Jean Grey. I'm pretty sure "The Second Coming" will have nothing to do with Jean's return though, because if it did, I assume you would keep it a secret. So, could you please stop with all the teasing? I think it's kind of cruel to toy with the emotions of us Jean Grey fans like that.

You obviously weren't a youngest child, Chad. Take it from someone who was a youngest child - the last thing you want to do to someone that's teasing you is ask them to stop teasing you.

X-MEN: HOPE #1
Written by DUANE SWIERCZYNSKI
Pencils & Cover by STEVE DILLON
Hope Summers could be the much-heralded "messiah" who will save mutantkind from extinction...or she could just be some poor kid, caught in the wrong place at the wrong time(s). Either way, since her infancy she's been raised by mutant soldier Cable in a hostile, dying future Earth -- and she's had to learn some hard lessons along the way. Now, Duane Swierczynski and Steve Dillon bring you four thrilling, untold tales from Hope's future past as she grapples with vicious snipers, robot wolf packs, mutant rats, and even Cable himself. This is the place to start if you want to know what the X-Men's future "messiah" is made of.

X-MEN: SECOND COMING
Written by CHRISTOPHER YOST & CRAIG KYLE
Pencils & Variant Cover by DAVID FINCH
Cover by ADI GRANOV
MANY WILL BE WOUNDED. SEVERAL WILL DIE.
The climax of four years of X-Men stories is the X-Event of 2010! What started in HOUSE OF M with the Decimation of mutantkind and erupted with the first new mutant birth in MESSIAH COMPLEX finishes here. In the epic crossover SECOND COMING, Cyclops' faith pays off when Cable returns to the present with Hope, the girl he believes to be the mutant messiah. But will she be the savior or destroyer of mutantkind? We may never know, as she is the target of an initiative for mutant eradication unlike anything they X-Men have ever experienced. Many will be wounded. Several will die. Is Hope worth it?

The variant cover is fantastic! But who's the guy with the red eyes? And it looks like Hope has a new costume. Man, I can't wait until this story... it feels like it's been building up to this all decade, and it's been a fun ride.

And, not shockingly, there's a phoenix raptor on the Hope cover... to those not familiar with what's going on right now, that IS JEAN.

In the name of all that is Grinchly, why is that cover colored so poorly?

I mean, it's normal David Finch art, and at least doesn't look as uninspired as his Ultimatum stuff did, but who colored it? It's horrid.

The Phoenix imagery is so obvious, she couldn't possibly be Jean Grey. There's no way they'd give away that big of a spoiler so soon.

Seeing Cyclops and Magneto stand right next to each other is pretty neat. I've gotta give Finch something for that.

Jean is not the only person to hold the Phoenix, so that means nothing. And like Manic said, they wouldn't give it away that easily, plus, they're have been so many beaten-over-the-head hints she could be Jean, it kills any surprise that it would be her and be one of the biggest let-downs for such a big build she's had since Messiah Complex.

While I don't think they'll go this route, I'm open to the possibility that Hope will be one big ol' red herring-- a normal girl (granted, a mutant one) whose role in saving the mutant race will be miniscule at best, but future history will hype up her contribution unnecessarily. You know, like (and I'm going to get stoned to death by my fellow black posters for this) Rosa Parks was just one of countless black people who refused to sit in the back of the bus, but history focuses on her as if she was the only one.
