Comics Are you ready for the SECOND COMING of the Mutant Messiah?

Are you talking about the Deathstrike who was part of the Sisterhood? Because I assumed that was just a robot made to look like her.
I wasnt talking about Deathsrike, but I forgot that she "died" in MC as well. That wasnt a robot...that was Deathstrike. Lady Mastermind was gutted by Wolverine in X-factor (chapter 11)

Sorry, I completely blanked and forgot that Lady Mastermind was part of Messiah CompleX, and just assumed you were talking about Lady Deathstrike. Lady Mastermind's was just one of the many fake-out deaths of Messiah CompleX, like Charles Xavier and Mystique.

I'm pretty sure the Deathstrike seen in Sisterhood was a robot, though. You saw Spiral putting her together from scratch in one issue.

Unfortunately I think this is Kurt's last hoorah. He's had nothing to do for over a year and now he's actually having an opinion and expressing his voice? I think he's going to get killed off in this story.
Or he could just very well be voicing his opinion. He's not going anywhere. I'm still money's bet on Cyclops, Cable, and Hope being the ones that dies. It'll be just that predictable.

Cyclops, Hope, Cable, Karma, Magma and Nightcrawler. I think at least 3 of them will be dead by the time this is over

Well, X-23 pretty much eviscerated Deathstrike during MC as well for stabbing her boy toy, so she would have needed to have been put back together almost from scratch anyway. The only question is how Spiral got her hands on her.

Cyclops, Cable, Hope, and either Karma/Magma. That's it. Nightcrawler's not gonna die just because he voiced his opinion in a story.

Yost and Kyle just went to him to react like that first because from a writer's standpoint he is the best choice as he is the X-Men's man of faith and probably the most pure of all them.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. It doesnt seem as if any of the writers are invested in his character anymore and seems very expendable. In the issue Cyclops, spread out all his teleporters bc of their usefullness. He put Illyana on Kurt's team, bc he just isnt that effective. He's definetly not being utilized for his abilities. If someone from this team dies, I think its most likely him

I think it's more of another complication of Fraction trying too many characters at one time. Fraction has been trying a bit too much with his run and hasn't been able to focus on Nightcrawler much at all. So, now it's decided that all the creators are going to have the rest of the X-Men learn about X-Force. Now, think back to around when X-Force first started and who all everyone first mentioned about who they would expect to have such a negative reaction to learning of X-Force's existence: Nightcrawler. Fraction more than likely had the same thought that Nightcrawler would have the strongest negative reaction to that team and decided to have him featured for it. I don't think that it has any kind of bearing that it automatically means he will die because of it. Just that he's the most obvious choice to be opposed to having a team of X-Men that kill.

What if it's Archangel? Fraction did say he loved writing the character he's about to kill off, and he does use Warren pretty often.

*barely contains rageful indifference at the ad*

How can you be rageful and indifferent?

Newsarama odds at who will bite it:

As you may have seen over on the Mothership, Marvel Comics has issued a teaser for X-Force #26, in which they promise “to save the world, one of these X-Men shall die.” Curious as to who it might be? So are we! We’ll give some speculation and clues as to who we think might bite the big one in Second Coming.

Colossus: The big steel lug would be a lock on this deadpool (get it? A-hah)… except for the fact he’s already killed himself once for mutantkind. Considering how long it took for Joss Whedon to bring him back in Astonishing X-Men, I have the feeling our stainless steel strongman will be buffing himself up for some time to come. Odds: 100 to 1.

Magik: Unless they’ve changed Kitty Pryde’s costume for this event, this looks like Magik to us. She’s certainly expendable — she holds a place in the X-Men’s collective hearts after perishing from the Legacy Virus. Her history is also tremendously convoluted, with no one set characterization holding sway in the years she’s been used. And no offense to Zeb Wells’ New Mutants book, but her death wouldn’t cause any tremendous shockwaves to the X-Men franchise. But somehow, I think Kyle and Yost are going to hit closer to home here. Odds: 60 to 1.

Iceman: Now this would be an interesting choice. He’s a character that’s been largely underutilized in the past few years, but he’s also a founding X-Man. He’s got ties to the entire island, whether its as a confidant of Cyclops or simply as the main water supply for Utopia itself. Maybe the X-Offices feel we’ll miss him more when he’s gone? Out of all the founding X-Men, however, I think he’s the one most likely to kick the bucket, for reasons I’ll explain below. Odds: 40 to 1.

Angel: So why not Angel? There’s a number of reasons I don’t think he’ll be shuffling off this mortal coil — namely, the fact that he’s been in the recent X-Force book. There’s a lot of redemption left for this recently-returned Archangel, and from a purely visual standpoint Warren Worthington lends something to this series that can’t be replaced. Ultimately, I feel that Bobby Drake as a character — even though he’s been less utilized — is more liked than Warren, and so I think that this founding X-Men dying wouldn’t be as palatable for the writers. And finally, a tongue-in-cheek observation — would his wings really fit underneath that sheet? Odds: 50 to 1.

Emma Frost: Remember when dating Scott Summers was a sign that you were a goner for sure? Whatever happened to that? Surprisingly, I think Emma’s closeness to Cyclops might be her salvation in this series — it’s gotten expected. But to be honest, the stakes that Scott is playing with here, Emma’s death wouldn’t be the worst thing that could happen to him. And for the sake of brand unity here — if Emma dies now, why would Marvel have her in the upcoming Astonishing X-Men book? If she does die, it’s likely a “temporary” thing, considering the Phoenix is likely in play here. Odds: 25 to 1.

Nightcrawler: Elf! Say it ain’t so! I got a bad feeling for anyone who’s a fan of the X-Men’s longtime teleporter. Matt Fraction told us that he was writing a funeral for a “fan-favorite character,” and you don’t get much more fan-favorite than Kurt Wagner. He’s been a character who’s been underutilized for a long time, and dying amidst his righteous anger against Cyclops and X-Force would be a huge complication to the X-Men. And with his religious background, there certainly wouldn’t be a loss of dramatic irony if he perishes in a story called “Second Coming.” Odds: 10 to 1.

Cable: Hoo boy. If Cable survives this fight, I will be extraordinarily surprised. His latest series — which has its final issue this week — ran on the premise of his protecting the mutant messiah Hope through a gauntlet of time-traveling dangers. There have been allusions in the text that have made it seem like Hope’s survival was his destiny — and if that destiny is realized by sacrificing himself, he’ll happily do it. The Old Soldier may be making his final rounds, and it’s a shame: because this was a character that came to represent fatherhood, and all that goes with it. Odds: 5 to 1.

If it is Warren, I'll lose my mind. :cmad:

The scary thing is that Bobby is in that picture too. :csad:

I hope it's Emma, but it'll probably be Kurt or Cable.

edit: After reading that (^) I'll bet anything it's going to be Kurt and that sucks.

I honestly don't get why people think it'll be Nightcrawler.

Bc Fraction doesnt want to know what its like to piss me off one more time. Honestly though, Fraction isnt writing X-force 26; Yost/Kyle are. Fraction is still free to kill off Cyclops or Emma in Uncanny.

Well, looks like the Gambit fans are being thrown a bone, finally. Who's writing that?

Holy crap. I just now noticed that there's a woman made of energy next to Pixie.

Gambit seems like the only person on that team who's out of place, now that I think about it.

-Pixie would look for Magik because Magik has the key to fixing her soul or at least controlling her magical powers.
-Northstar and Dazzler bonded with Pixie in San Francisco, so I could see them backing her up and keeping her safe.
-Anole is Pixie's former teammate, wants to keep an eye on Magik in case she hurts Pixie again, and Northstar used to be his mentor.
-Cannonball is Magik's teammate/team leader. Really, he has more business being in this story than anyone else on that cover.
-Trance was there when Magik captured the students, just like Pixie and Anole. Plus she has some resistance to magic.

Gambit... um... just needed some time away from Rogue?

I'm surprised Colossus isn't there, actually.

Yost is writing this one and yep thats Trance. Definetly an odd bunch. Way too many X-brats for my liking, but glad to finally see Gambit used on an X-team and Dazzler getting something more to do besides show up and sparkle
