I assume he's talking about [BLACKOUT]Nina not realizing that she stabbed herself, thinking she had stabbed Lily, and that being the catalyst for her to (in her mind) literally became The Black Swan.[/BLACKOUT]
Ah, I see. Yeah, that didn't really seem like a reveal to me at all. Oh well.

Great news about the wide release. This movie deserves all the dinero it gets.

New international poster.

I like this poster more than that paste-faced Portman poster with the red eyes. :o

My friend and I were stunned by how many people were in the theater. We saw The Wrestler in theaters two years ago and there were like six other people in the auditorium.

I went to an early afternoon show on opening day and it was sold out. The audience was mostly girls and old people. They were probably expecting some quaint ballet movie. :hehe:

So this confirms the rumors about Portman´s character having the disease of

Swancanthropy?

It is if you interpreted that scene as [blackout]another harmless hallucination[/blackout]. Otherwise I thought it was a pretty significant reveal at the extent of her paranoia and the complete [blackout]identity detachment[/blackout] that followed thereafter.

What the hell is this?

Oooh, I see what you mean now. I guess that could constitute a "reveal" of sorts. But I don't think it was supposed to be a huge Sixth Sense-esque twist or anything like that. It was almost the most logical-yet-disturbing development that could occur at that point in the story, imo. So in its own twisted way, it seemed like a natural progression to me, and thus my "reveal" confusion, lol.

Yeah that was my original point, I know it's not supposed to be that, it just so happened to be what I expected because of other people's reviews that I had heard.

What confused me is the significance of the rash. It was clearly not part of [blackout]her delusions because her mom saw it as well[/blackout]. Yet in spite of the nail clippings and lack of any scratching, it progressively gets worse and worse. I don't believe it was ever explained, but admittedly I did have to leave the theater for a very quick moment because of my cursed bladder. I doubt I missed anything though as it was in the middle of the film.

Phew, we're finally on the same page with regards to the reveal! It only took me a page to catch up. ;)

I think she WAS scratching. [blackout]We just weren't shown because she was doing it subconsciously, and since we were only seeing her perspective, we/she never saw/noticed it. Just like we never actually saw her stab herself, either[/blackout].

I suppose that works. I don't think I'm quite satisfied if that's all there is to it though. :funny:

It was referenced so heavily I just wanted to know how it got there and [blackout]if she's the source of it, what is the significance of constantly scratching in that area[/blackout].

Based on what her mother said, it's clearly a problem she's had for a while - a masochistic physical manifestation of her neurosis. Some girls cut themselves. She scratches. It's sort of [blackout]a precursor to the much more extreme physical manifestation of her neurosis at the end.[/blackout]

Huh. Well whaddya know, I don't remember that tidbit at all. I guess I really did miss something essential in that short timeframe I left. :O

Always go before the movie starts! :woot:

Seriously though, it was just one short line: "You're scratching again?" That I inferred that from. So you could have been taking a sip of your drink or something and missed it too, lol.

It's an interesting inference. Certainly puts her seclusion, lack of social skill, and drive for perfection, into a whole different perspective if she's exhibited these symptoms before. I'll keep that in mind when I watch it again.

My showing was more or less sold out, too. My friend and I came about five minutes before previews and we had to sit in the first row. Thankfully it wasn't too bad since there was some distance between the seats and the screen do we didn't have our heads cocked up for two hours. :oldrazz:

Yeah, same. A whole row of old ladies behind us left
after the sex scene.

LOL, after? Makes it sound like it went something like this:

"Ok ladies, we don't need to stay and watch this filth."
"Should we leave?"
"In a minute."

:awesome:

I saw it tonight and it was sold out. In fact two girls just sat on the stairs because they couldn't find seats, which I thought was annoying until one of them screamed "SHUT UP!!!" at an annoying guy in the back who kept laughing like a jackass for most of the movie. And he did shut up after that.

The movie was amazing. If Natalie Portman doesn't win an Oscar for this, I'll be amazed (not shocked, but amazed). It actually reminded me of Sunset Blvd a little bit, especially the ending.
