I don't like to give up on people but the internet has taught me that there are some pretty horrible people in this world and maybe it is best to give up on them and back away.

Yeah, or if I like the rhythm as well as the overall sound and the composition. Some stuff that I listen to, I can't make out the lyrics because it's more about the sound of the vocals, like if the vocalist is screaming or what have you. I guess in that case, it's more about the atmosphere produced by the music in conjunction with the genre, like if it's atmospheric black metal. I like all kinds of stuff -- it depends what I'm in the mood for.
