At 1 ohio school, 4 bullied teens commit suicide

they are using that technology to torture and bully other kids....I think people are more racist and intolerant these days as opposed to say 10-15 years ago

the political and economic climate isn't helping matters any
10-15 years ago a black man , well a half black/half white man , wouldn't have been elected as president. 10-15 years ago you wouldn't see all the interracial couples I see on campus. 10-15 years ago that one Mexican chick that became Supreme Court Justice wouldn't have been put in. So many f****** examples out there about how less racist society is compared to 10-15 years ago.

I think it also depends on where you live....I know here in the northeast things are definitely much more tense these days

Racism nowadays is more subtle and it's done with a little more malice than back in the day, because the racists nowadays feel that they're being slighted by the P.C. police, so now it's about the principle of the thing.

People at my job are always shocked when I mention something racist that has happened to Spoons and I. My boss always says she didn't know that anyone in the world was still like that. Some people are so naive, and that's scary. She's in her own little well-to-do white family bubble who never interacts with anyone else but other well-do-do white people in her private school community :csad:

EDIT: However, I'd never say racism is worse than it was say, decades ago. Just that it is still very much alive.

Are blacks up there required to drink from separate water fountains and are black males lynched when they look at white woman ? I doubt it. Racism is still out there , but it's not worse.

They've had the world handed to them on a silver platter and yet look at what they do with it.

hese punks have so much more than any generation before them and yet look at what they are doing .

I'm saying these punk a** kids have new forms of technology to actually do good s*** with their lives and make their lives easier , but they aren't doing that are they ?

I'm excited to hear what you thinks kids these days "are doing."

I think he's saying that bullying is no longer just the big mean kid picking on the scrawney kid in the schoolyard....but much of it has moved to using all the electronic advances available to kids today. Many news stories are about kids being harassed by cellphones and computer stuff (email, facebook, etc).

I'm not sure that's his point, since the only mention he's given of bullying has been to say that kids these days are weak, compared to the kind of bullying there was in his day.

I thought I saw him (could have been someone else) mention electronic bullying...so if he's not saying it, I am......too many kids who wouldn't have bullied before are now finding an easy way to do it...you don't have to be bigger than the other guy to take a compromising pic and post it all over the place to attack someone.

Somebody did mention it, yes.

Yeah.

The above statements about racism and the state of younger people reminds me of a saying I've used in the past:

"Nothing seems as dire, as the times in which we live."

and then make copies and plaster them all over school.....oh thank the maker Im not in HS now, I probably wouldn't be able to help myself

In the words of Bas Rutten:
"I don't believe in an eye for an eye. I believe in 2 eyes for an eye."
or
"He tried to kill me. So now I'm going to return the favour."
or
"You said something about my wife? Sorry sir, I'm going to break your leg."

Ok. I think we mostly agree.

Bas is the best modern philosopher. This is proof...
