Im looking to buy an 05 Audi A4 and im trying to decide wheter or not if I should get an automatic or manual? I was originally just going to get a automatic but then all my friends started convincing me to get a manual instead. I dont know how to drive stick though  I mean, it looks alot funner to drive then an automatic but it just kinda seems like a hassle to always keep shifting and stuff. Would anyone like to help me out on this problem? Oh, this is my first car btw, im 17.

If you can't drive a manual, don't get a manual! Learning to drive stick often really messes up the car you learn on, so you don't want to have to repair your new car when you could have just gotten an automatic.

Well I'd learn how to drive a stick first before I got the car

It's your preference, then. Who cares what your friends say? It's your car, and you'll be driving it. I personally hate manual and think automatic is easier, but it all depends on what you prefer to drive.

2.0T or the 3.6 Quatro?

Either way this is a European sports sedan. You're buying a luxury car not a race car, unless you want to be a ricer. Anyways, before I can tell you which is better for you. You have to answer some questions for me.

Are you driving more in the city or in the country?
Are you driving around with a group of friends or more often by yourself/one other person?
How much do you know about driving stick now?

I don't want to go into your money situation, but do you care much about repair costs, gas, etc finances for the car?

Don't be deterred though, it often messes up the car for people who do stupid crap and mess up the car. If you take lessons and then play it cool when you drive, it shouldn't be so bad. The most you'll do is stall the engine which isn't so bad if you don't do it hard or often.

Will you be driving through a lot of heavy traffic regularly? Because Hell for a manual driver is stop-and-go traffic.

automatic ftw!

After a while you will shift naturally and it is much more fun to drive stick.

you know they should just have automatic clutch. the only problem with automatics is that they select the wrong gear at times. this'd be like a flappy panel system but with a stick instead of the flappy panel. heck you could have both and a full auto mode.
