UGH :cmad:

...well, there go my hopes for a good movie down the drain...

All you Avi haters need to get an education on what he's done for this industry. You might even want to check on why he's no longer at Marvel. Try reading. The guy is responsible for the site even being here basically cause otherwise there's only be 2 forums. Superman & Batman films of the 70's and 80's. The guy is a stud.

Avi was not only the producer of the bad Marvel movies but also the good ones.

Who do people always seem to forget that. "Selective memory" perhaps?

99% of the producers have there bad share of films but they're really just the money men but Avi was different. His heart was in these characters. He wanted the best films.

Avi Arad was possibly the only force stopping these studios from completely butchering the source material in most cases.

Think the Marvel movies sucked? They would've been even worse without a guy from Marvel appealing to the studio execs to keep it close as possible to the comics.

I agree, Marvel probably wouldn't have all these film deals made if not for him. He's definitely good on some level. It's just his personal comments that have offended some fans. Some feel that he lied a lot during X3's struggle to find a director, and he once made a comment about the rabid fans being idiots. He was just trying to make a point, but it came out badly. :o

Avi Arad might be the one to single handedly blame for the crapfest that spiderman 3 was.

True - wasn't he the one that forced Venom into the film? As much as I love the character, it was too crowded, and he got no real time to shine. And I can't believe how they ended his story. =/

What did he say?

"Idiots," Marvel CEO Avi Arad says of the online fans who have had a negative reaction to the selection of X-Men 3 director Brett Ratner. "Did you see Red Dragon? Did you see that?" Arad asks before mentioning The Family Man, "which is totally different, a very emotional story." Then, you have two giant Rush Hour comedies.

"What are they thinking? This is a great filmmaker. Do you know how much experience this guy has? Let alone his new Jessica Simpson video? This guy knows what he's doing."

Arad says that Ratner has already made lots of changes to the Zak Penn/Simon Kinberg script "that are very good, because he's thinking picture, not words. He's very cinematic."

X Men 3 was my favourite movie of the series...people hated it because of stupid reasons imo....a lot of them just wanted it to be a direct translation of the Pheonix Saga, and I'm here to tell you a movie with Cyclops at the helm would suck :o

People say it was rushed but..it's called a production schedule people. The wolfman is due for release next november, OMG IT'S GONNA BE RUSHED!

People just don't seem to engage their brain before they speak and jump on any old bandwagon, and in X3's case, it was a victim of the ''DOWN WITH ROTHMAN/FOX!'' band wagon.

Yes but Venom replaced Vulture so the film would have been just as crowded anyway.

He pushed Raimi to put Venom in the film but that didn't mean the script had to be like it was. The main problem was the actors contracts were up like in X3 so the directors are trying to give the fans as much as possible as are the producers before they recast or are forced into renegotiating. They don't want to leave the Venom storyline wide open...and then recast. Brock should have been intro'd in part 2. The symbiote should have been just intro'd in 3 and Spidey 3 should have ended with church scene and the symbiote landing on brock. The end. However the contracts stopped that.

He wanted the best films.

oh really? is that who's responsible for the watered down Logan Jackman we've been delivered?
how about the guy who called out a pg-13 rating for a film based on a mutated serial killer?

good calls(barf)

at the end of the day i don't really care who is at fault, arad or otherwise...
most Marvel films have not displayed the characters the way they should have been.

Wolvie is not a pg-13 film or character nor should he be on lunch pails.

what's next for marvel, a punisher who is a pretty boy like thomas jane?

...oh wait a sec.

But the Vulture wouldn't have had as much hype as Venom... And thus wouldn't have been such a let down. Getting to see Venom for a few minutes and one fight scene was horribly disappointing for me. Hell, Eddie got the suit, and immediately the climax started. There was no Venom/Spidey buildup at all.

Avi is responsible for a lot of great things. Including the Marvel animated series of the '90s

Yeah, I agree that it was a let down and all, but my point is that at least he was THERE. It's not Avi Arad's fault that Sam Raimi decided to barely use him.

Yes, god forbid a producer actually does his job by making decisions that will make a film more financially successful. :whatever:

Seriously, it's so annoying how people single him out when he's doing what he's supposed to do and what any other producer would do. The director's job is to make the best movie they possibly can, and the producer's job is to make sure that the film makes as much money as it possibly can, and considering the fact that the X-men and Spider-Man film franchises have made BILLIONS, I'd say he's doing a HELL of a job. Yeah, it's one thing if you don't like some of the changes that have been made, but like the rappers say: Don't hate the player, hate the game.

BTW, those are some of the most ******ed complaints I've ever heard about those films.
