Action-Adventure Bad Boys 4

I like the new cast enough to watch more adventures with them and Mike and Marcus.

Yeah me too. I definitely want Ammo return and it would be pretty cool if they could also find a way to bring Gabrielle Unions character back.

Fully on board with this after watching and loving BBFL. And yeah, like many others, would be glad to see Ammo back.

Can't wait to see how they tackle the plot for this one.

Easy just do something corrupt cops/ex cops that Mike and Marcus have to take down. Think Dirty Harry even did that.

Can you even make Bad Boys 4 post-2020 with everything going on? Mainstream publications are calling for cancellation of cop movies and TV shows.

I wonder if they
will cast someone as their new Captain? Joe Pantoliano was great and I will miss him.

Totally agree with this but get someone like Jon Hamm as the new person in that role we should be okay.

I’m actually surprised that hasn’t been in any of the films yet. But a corrupt cop/soldier doesn’t seem to be a Michael Bay thing. Smith sorta tackled a corrupt police force in Bright.

His 2nd movie was THe Rock that featured corrupt members of the armed forces.

Wasn’t it because they were “screwed” by their own government. If I remember correctly, the film was very sympathetic to Ed Harris.
They were still corrupt. They held innocent people hostage. Sympathetic or not, that's corrupt

I guess different choice of word then. Michael Bay is sympathetic to cops/soldiers so the only outright villains in his films are usually government officials or higher ups or, you know, drug dealers.

I mean, if anything, Bad Boys 4 could tackle the topics going on right now in a relevant way...if they get the right writing team to somehow blend social issues and action.

Yeah but that's most blockbusters and/or bigger budget action films that have been released relatively recently. I wouldn't put that on Bay like it's unique to him. And if they do handle corrupt cops or soldiers, it's usually that they're part of a secret society, they're mind controlled, etc.
And even going back to the Rock there were soldiers other than Harris who don't have a Heel-Face turn

EDIT: And if you look at it, he hasn't really done that many movies recently with "real" bad guys. Other than Pain & Gain (where the villains were the protagonists), 6 Underground, and 13 Hours; Bay has done wacky sci fi (mostly Transformers) stuff for the last 10-15 years. So I wouldn't expect him to tackle corrupt cops/soldiers anytime recently

Agreed.

On another note: It still irks me that they called the 3rd movie Bad Boys for Life and not the 4th one. Bad Boys 4 Life....cowards

That's the one thing I outright hated about the 3rd movie. I can't stand when movie series do this

Why are people talking about whether Bay would tackle certain subjects by the way? He didn't direct the last movie.

Because someone said that they're surprised that it hasn't been tackled in any of the movies a majority of which were done by Bay.

For his movies, he really hasn't. Bay's movies tend to be more on the conservative/pro-military side.

Frankly, going by society's outrage right now against police, Marcus and Mike are "bad cops" who should be fired. Look at all the civil rights they routinely violate. In the latest movie, Mike illegally and violently tortures a suspect.

And neither have most other modern action directors, so why are peoples on Bay's nuts about this?
I never even said that he did other than the Rock. So I don't know why quote me in this. And As I pointed out before, that you didn't read:
a) His 2nd movie ever was The Rock which featured corrupt soldiers. Sympathetic or not, they were still corrupt
b) Most bigger budget action movies and/or blockbusters don't feature corrupt cops or soldiers, And if they do they're not the main villains and/or they're part of a secret society or something like that
c) Most of his movies are out there or wacky sci fi. And the ones that weren't don't require the use of corrupt cops or soldiers

And the whole "oh well people are mad at police so how can they do the movie" take is silly and lazy. Bad Boys 4 will be fine. Bad Boys 3 and so many movies featuring police abusing their power came out after so many high profile police killings of unarmed black people and the inception of Black Lives Matter. Let's Be Cops was a commercial success and it came out less than a week after Mike Brown's murder. The show "You", a movie about a stalker sexual abuser came out and became popular a year or two after MeToo/The Weinstein Effect. Even something like The Watch, there's no evidence that it failed because it was about the neighborhood watch after the Trayvon Martin murder.
And it's not like the movie is coming out next week. It's probably 3 years away. Bad Boys 1 came 3 years after the LA Riots. It's fine. Especially if they address corruption in the movie

I'm not even sure why Bay is even in this discussion unless he's coming back to direct Bad Boys 4 which is highly unlikely at this point.

Also, my point is that mainstream publications are calling for cancellation of Hollywood cop shows and movies.

I mean if you really want to address police corruption, look at Mike and Marcus' own behavior in the earlier films. My point there is that you can't make Bad Boys about police corruption without shining a light on how in the real world, Marcus and Mike people should likely be calling for the dismissal of them as police officers due to their criminal displays of policing.

So my basic point is, big goofy dumb action cop movies like Bad Boys rarely reflect reality. They don't take place in a real world like this. And if you want them to "get real" then you can't really ignore the sins of these characters, otherwise its stupidity.

What you could do is have them fight a powerful faction of dirty rogue cops like Magnum Force or some such.

Even in Bad Boys 3 they basically turned it into more of a comic book story. AMMO is basically like the Bad Boys version of SHIELD. It's not realistic.

Who cares what mainstream publications are saying? There's no evidence that studios are gonna cancel every cop show and movie because of this. Some shows are actually using it as an opportunity. And which mainstream publications were this? And it doesn't matter. If Hollywood listened to major publication they would've solved their diversity problem by now.

"You can't make Bad Boys about police corruption without shining a light on how in the real world, Marcus and Mike people should likely be calling for the dismissal of them as police officers due to their criminal displays of policing." Uhhhh yes you can. They do that kind of hypocritical stuff in moves all the time. Dirty Harry did it in his 2nd movie that you even mentioned. And he's as corrupt a cop as they come. He's one of the prototypical ones on film.

Bad Boys is already stupid, so yes they can ignore it. No one looks at Bad Boys as a reflection of reality. So they can be as stupid as they want. You can address the "real issues" in the world while being a "nonsense" film. Movies do this all the time

COPS and LIVE PD already got cancelled.

Washington Post and USA Today.

Harry Callahan wasn't "corrupt" like the officers in Magnum Force.
