Bad Hook-Ups

Has anyone ever been in a situation where there's someone you want to date but a family member or friend tries hooking you up with someone who THEY thought you looked good with instead, then you agree to give that person a try and it ends up being a disaster?

I've been on blind dates arranged by friends a few times. A couple were a disaster but some were great. It depends how well your friend knows your taste. I wouldn't feel too comfortable letting family members (except sis) set me up.

I don't let family/friends buy clothes for me, I'm sure not going to let them pick out chicks.

I did end up getting with a chick (of my own accord) that this friend kept pushing on me, and we fell in love, but then I learned that she would do any and every drug put before her, and the slo-mo, demon-possesed voice she got from doing inhalants was a big turn-off, also seeing her dry humping a guy on the dance floor at a party she'd invited me to because "she thought he looked like me" was a deal-breaker.

I went on a blind date once where teh girl and I literally had nothing in common. I work out, love movies, books, politics. And this girl actually disliked all of it. She never watches a movie more than once reads mostly magazines, doesn't bother with politics. The only thing she liked to talk about was fashion and clothes...I have never met anyone like that in my life...especially the movie thing...anyway never spoke to her again.
