The Dark Knight Bale on the Casting of Ledger

Out with Ledger! In with Cassel!
Besides that ONE picture, Cassel has ABSOLUTLY NO resemblence to the Joker! He has a THICK accent, that he has YET to prove he can lose...he would NOT have made a good Joker.

Great read. If Bale says Ledger is as passionate about the role as he says he is, my doubts are officially laid to rest.

I mean, he was pretty candid with kinda what went down with Katie and Tom Cruise in one interview. He didn't say anything bad, just what everyone was thinking.

What did he say?

Did anyone watch "Who wants to be a superhero?"?

Its very interesting especially last episode though with the supervillain.

This article was freakin fabulous! DAMN....I can't wait for this film to come out! Ahhhhhhhhh! LOL :batty: :joker:

I haven't yet.....but my girl says she caught it earlier this week and said it was hilarious!

Well, I'm not exactly quoting him, but he didn't say all that much. He just said that he was happy for them, but he kinda let it be known that it was over the top. Something along the lines of, who cares about how much you lover her, or something like that. Nothing offensive, I thought. Just speaking the truth.

That's who Bale is.

The Truth.

Bale also told us that his partnership with Nolan, which'll have extended to three features by the time The Dark Knight hits cinemas, is based on a solid working relationship. "As long as it's a good working relationship," he told us, "that's all that matters. But Chris is the director I've worked with more than anyone else and what's nice, when you do come to understand each other, is you do get this common language so you really don't have to speak a whole lot; often too much talking just kind-of ruins everything. And it's nice when you know the way someone works anyway and you don't have to break that ice at all. It was a very lucky thing for me when I met Chris and became part of his circle of filmmaking."
Bale also trusts Nolan.
And I trust Bale.

Hey, if Bale says it, it must be right.

Bale has never lead us wrong eh?

I dont know but in the words off well um a crapload of Star Wars characters "I have a bad feeling about this!" Lets hope that Bale is right.

Doesnt matter tho im already won over by the title alone! The Dark Knight!

HELL YES!!!! :)

Nice! Bale is frickin' cool. And he is very honest, so take that you haters!!

Yeah, I figured Stan was going that route with him because of his gun yet when he got the villain makeover he had no gun. Only a few of the characters interest me but I don't like the red gladiator looking dude and I was happy to see cell phone girl gone.
That Lemuria is sexy as hell:o

Yeah....he has no problem ripping on a cast member. i was pretty surprised he said that, considering theres a chance they'll have to work together again for the sequel.
Link please...

Looks like Norman got a BOF mention...props.

And yes, Bale is the man. Can't wait for THE PRESTIGE and HARSH TIMES to open here in the US.

Cassel DOES have the look, not just in that picture. Great actor, I know he could have dropped the accent. I was a Cassel supporter since day one.

Of course, NO ONE saw Ledger coming... and now we're ALL supporters.

The Ledger casting is so left field that there's no way it CAN'T be brilliant. They're seeing something over there in Nolan's camp... something we HAVEN'T seen from him yet. I look forward to finally seeing him show his true range. Heath Ledger can finally stop being a "pretty boy", "boring", and "bland" to me.

Point:

We all had our own personal candidates and we got behind them. I wanted Cassel, would've loved him in fact. I'm sure he would have been good. But that's all null and void now, people. Hulme, Bettany, Depp, Glover, Penn, Brody---out: DOESN'T MATTER!

We've got a Joker, and he's gonna be great. Bale said so.
Quit regretting. Stop complaining. No second guesses.

THERE IS NO TURNING BACK!

... are you ready to begin? :joker:

What did you guys think Bale would say? Ledger sucks and is a terrible actor? Lousy choice, Chris? C'mon, this is just typical actor talk. It doesnt prove if Ledger will be believable as the Joker or not. We all have to wait and see what the take will be on the character in this story, what he looks like, and what he acts like.

I agree. If Bale didn't like Ledger - or the choice of Ledger as the Joker - he's not going to say it in in front of the press. He's probably contractually bound to not say anything negative about the movie in the press. LOL

I like Ledger as an actor. I've liked him in every movie I'm seen with him in it. But I'm finding that I'm liking less and less the idea of him as Joker.

"The Dark Knight" IS an awesome title - that is for sure.

"Off to Arkham Assylum" Lol, this dude really loves the universe of the Batman, and seems to know and respect it more than any actor to come before him.

I love that he said that Ledger is very passionate, and that we are going to see something very special- this vouch from Bale is VERY pleasing to me.

I know he has to say that Ledger will do well, but he seems convinced.

Yeah, after BB, Bale started to read more comics  Maybe someday he will ven become one of us   :D j/k

Yeah he had to say this, but I think in reality he is ok with Nolan's choice.

As for me, I am very positive about Ledger, because:

1) He looks like Joker

2) He can act

3) And he has Joker's smile :D :joker:

I trust in Nolan. He did a great Job with the first Movie, and he know what is important for the second movie. If he thinks that Legder is the right Man for the Role, then we should trust him, and wait till we see the first glimpse of Ledger as Joker.

Nobody sticks a gun to the actor´s head for him to say anything. If Ledger wasn´t passionate about the role, he didn´t have to say it, he´d just say, "well, the man was nominated for an Oscar". Ledger is already an established and respected actor, he doesn´t need anybody pushing PR for him.

Good to hear the positive response from Bale. Guess they start filming when he wraps up 3:10 To Yuma.
