Bands/artists you could never get into..

The Rolling Stones. Never understood the appeal. Generally I find them boring. Unless I'm drinking heavily.

:xmen:

Micheal Jackson would be one right at the top for me. I'm lucky if I can even stand two songs of his. Not a real big fan of reggae either so Bob Marly is another mystery to me. Don't much like Green Day either though folks go on and on about them, too. :(

Pfft, reggae -- music for junkies who don't like to work. Yup, never could stand it either. Very annoying.. and all that smoke :hehe:

Don't hate on all that smoke, just on reggae :o

Well, that's odd. But yeah, Springsteen can't even stand in Dylan's shadow..

Um, wrong. But I don't want to derail this thread. Carry on.

C'mon, I'm sure Dylan has a lot of respect for the Boss, and when they go sunbathing together actually makes sure his shadow is not cast over him as a sign of respect.
I am not some big Springsteen fan, maybe i woul dbe if I heard more albums instead of singles here and there, but the guy is a respected songwriter and performer and most certainly has his place in musical history asured, he's not some chump like Bon Jovi.
Dylan is a pretty big one to compare anyone with though, he not only rolled the joint, but s*** out the seed that grew the grass.

Um, no. Sorry. Let me guess, to you Springsteen is just a second rate Dylan rip-off, who sounds constipated and writes dumb stadium anthems like "Born in the U.S.A."? Because that's the general argument I get from Dylan fans about Springsteen, and it couldn't be more off base.

uh, no. i wouldnt even begin to compare the two.

Not even a little.

dont know what you want me to say. love dylan. dont love springsteen.

is there some rivalry between dylan and springsteen fans that im unaware of?

I was thinking that Dylan fans maybe don't like the comparisons stemming from the fact that Springsteen was the first major star to be tagged 'the new Dylan' by the press. Not really fair on Springsteen to be constantly compared.

There are not many people you could compare to Dylan considering his innovation.

edit: actually there are only a handful of singer/guitarists/songwriters that you could compare and put in the same league as Dylan when it comes to kicking open the doors, breaking the boundaries and setting the template for rock songwriting...John Lennon, Syd Barrett, Lou Reed and Leonard Cohen.

in the 60's in detroit there was a mexican dude named Sixto Diaz Rodriguez (popularly known as just 'Rodriguez') who is one of the few people i would genuinely compare to dylan. phenomenal stuff he did. he never had much success. oddly, he ended up pretty big in south africa. because of that he's had a bit of success lately, his debut album cold fact has been re-released. i've seen him perform a few times, great stuff.

My fav song from them are the Highlander ones. Princes of the Universe. Who wants to live forever(beautiful)...Ummm...don't know if this one is Highlander, but I think it was in one of the series blooper reels. 'Don't stop me now'. Their Flash Gordon song is just weird...but nice.

The Highlander ones are great! Most of them can be found on their album 'A Kind of Magic'. Don't Stop Me Now was off of 'Jazz'...and it's one of the few songs from that album I liked. :o One of my fav songs from Queen in general, now that I think of it! The Flash Gordon album I can take or leave... But even the "crappiest" Queen song, to me, is better than most of the stuff I've heard nowadays.

And since this seems to be an odd thing, I have to say that I love both Dylan *and* Springsteen!! I'm just sayin'....:cwink:

I LOVE Reggae music! And not just because I smoke dem ganja, seen? I mean if you don't like or at least respect Bob Marley, Barrington Levy and Peter Tosh you fail at life on a galactic level.

This is music my friends.

I've never got into the Foo Fighters. All their songs, structurally, sound the ****ing same.

Red Hot Chili Peppers, that's another band that just did nothing for me

Metallica, ugh. Also, Dave Matthews Band

No, I just find that they're both so strikingly similar that it's fairly typical for people to be fans of both men rather than one or the other.
