Barbarian | Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård, Justin Long

'Barbarian' Trailer: Check Into The Rental From Hell On August 31

In “Barbarian,” a young woman traveling to Detroit for a job interview books a rental home. But when she arrives late at night, she discovers that the house is double booked, and a strange man is already staying there. Against her better judgement, she decides to spend the evening, but soon discovers that there’s a lot more to fear than just an unexpected house guest.

Alongside Campbell and Skarsgård, “Barbarian” also stars Justin Long, Matthew Patrick Davis, Richard Brake, Kurt Braunohler, and Jaymes Butler. Zach Cregger writes and directs the film, his feature directorial debut. Audiences know Cregger best as one of the founding members of the comedy troupe The Whitest Kids U’ Know and sitcoms like “Friends With Benefits” and “Wrecked.”

Weird.

Currently two other horror films Salem's Lot and Dark Harvest are dated for September 9th. Unless Disney knows something we don't lol.

I just found out this existed because of a tumblr ad. Zach Cregger directed it?!?!?

This seems intriguing but with a title like that, it makes me long for a horror film about a house that’s haunted by an undead Conan.

I don't always trust Sean with his takes but with horror, i'll take it.

Surprised nothing's leaked out about what's really going on. With all the vague hints at torture and experiments, why is this called Barbarian?

Reviews calling it Raimi-esque has me on board. Excited to check it out.

When I first heard the title I thought it was going be some Conan fantasy epic, or at least inwardly, I hoped that it was, LOL. Then I was a little crestfallen when I realized it was a horror film. But it's a fun, entertaining ride at least.

This movie wasn't on my radar until a few days ago, but I got my ticket to see it tomorrow. Early in the day, so not with a packed crowd, but I can live with that.

Plus, I want to be able to enjoy the rest of my Saturday.

Between this and Werewolves Within, I’m kind of shook to have made it to a time when CollegeHumor and Whitest Kids U Know alumni have become well-regarded horror directors.

Just came back from this and yeah it was pretty good. 8/10 for me!

Trailer definitely undersold the movie. The directing was pretty good, but for me it kinda fell apart in the writing aspect because it fell trope to characters making either really dumb, or really unrealistic, decisions - I'd say unrealistic decisions moreso. Like in that scene between Tessa and her interviewer post-interview, where the interviewer hinted knowing something about the area where Tessa was staying. In a realistic scenario, Tessa's character would've asked what she knew about it, but she didn't, which didn't make any sense.

There was some obvious switching between timelines that didn't totally make sense either - and by that I mean it didn't explain things that I would've expected to have been explained.

But overall a solid entertaining horror flick. Should've come out in October though. Missed opportunity. Hopefully it has the legs to keep going through October?

Can't make it this weekend, but very pumped to see this next week. Going in blind other than first trailer.
