Comedy Barbie: The Movie

I give Mattel a lot of credit for being able to make fun of themselves. Some of the jokes were pretty harsh.

The trailers made it seem like “Barbie in the real world” was going to be the real plot and there was no indication it would be about Ken trying to bring patriarchy into Barbie land.

I wish the ending would have Barbie realized a matriarchy isn’t really great either, but I get why they didn’t.

A little too preach and heavy handed, but when the jokes land, they’re hilarious. Great ending line.

I imagine we are getting a Barbie 2 announcement and possibly a Ken spinoff as soon as the strike is over
It could be a while for B2 if they want Gerwig again. After the strike Gerwig is committed to doing 2 Narnia movies for Netflix.

I saw Indigo Girls live a few years back because Bon Iver (Justin Vernon) loved them and invited them to his music festival, Eaux Claires.

Could she do it after the first Narnia film or is she contracted to do them back-to-back?

Maybe she should watch Oppenheimer first before making assumptions about it

WB Japan issued an official statement on the matter.

"we find that insensitive replies by official BARBIE: THE MOVIE twitter acount is extremely regrettable. we are taking this situation very seriously and demanding US headquarters to take appropriate measures."

This whole thing is stupid. It’s promoting both movies which is a good thing because people who may have not gone to see Oppenheimer otherwise may do so now. And actually understand the historical gravity of creating that bomb that they wouldn’t have otherwise.

Should Jewish people be offended by the marketing of Indiana Jones, which feature Nazis, as making light of the Holocaust?

But she did realize that.

Monday estimate is $14.9m. Not as exciting as last week, but still a pretty impressive number. Barbie should pass $400m domestic on Thursday.
