Comedy Barbie: The Movie

Early Wednesday estimate is 23.5, which would be fantastic.

I’ve gone from wondering if it will make a billion (that’s locked) to musing about beating Maverick…

I forgot to mention that I love how there were three actors from Sex Education in this. That show is really good.

Glad to see another Sex Education fan and i ALSO noticed all those actors while watching the movie! I was like, how many of these guys are in this?! :funny:

Right! I was like the casting director had to have worked on both.

If Barbie can stay over $20m today it will almost certainly become just the third movie ever to have 10 consecutive days over $20m after The Force Awakens and Endgame.

Finally went with my wife last night and completed by Barbenheimer experience a few days late.

This movie was pretty much exactly what I expected it would be. I definitely laughed out loud a bunch at the Ken stuff, I love how hard Gosling commits. It was a cute and mostly fun romp. It got a bit more generic and boring in the middle than I was expecting it to. The musical numbers were a riot though, and while I didn't think the script was as clever is thinks it is and was a bit heavy-handed for my taste, I can certainly appreciate the message it was going for and recognize that it will connect really well with its intended audience. Happy for its success, and my wife enjoyed it which made me happy.

That's the kind of box office company it's keeping these days! Hopefully a great second weekend hold is on the cards after these weekdays were so impressive. Feels like the hype is only getting bigger.

lol...remember after Babylon when people were saying Margot couldn't open a movie.:funny:
I mean I think this did well because it’s Barbie, looked fun, and got great reviews. Margot obviously contributed to that but I don’t necessarily think people saw it just because of her.

Early Thursday estimate is $21m. Hopefully that isn't overstated by more than $1m.
Good news for the weekend, Barbie is adding more screens. I'm thinking at least $90m second weekend. If it can somehow reach $100m it will be just the 7th $100m second weekend and the first for a movie that opened under $200 it's first weekend.

Best part of the movie was the Zack Snyder burn. I hate to cheer Warner Bros right now under Zaslav, but that was awesome. Great that Greta called him out for being one of the worst proponents of toxic masculinity in Hollywood right now.

$21.2m for Thursday. That guarantees Barbie will become just the third movie to ever have 10 consecutive days over $20m. Technically 11 days if you count the Thursday previews separately from its opening Friday.

It's nice to see Margot Robbie actually have a hit film. I think her last one was Wolf of Wallstreet right?
