Actually, you're quite wrong. Frankly, it's pretty lame. As Wesyeed and I have both said, it looks like something out of Star Wars. Which will cause a conflict with this "realism" that everyone seems to be on about all over again.

The more they reveal about this movie, the less excited I am.
He's not wrong, he just feels differently than you do.

Yeah, but I don't think any of the vehicles from Star Wars have been built, at least not in a working capacity. How can it not be realism when the thing really works?

Realism is not necessarily content, but it's portrayal and explanation, alien invasions, demons etc, can all be a part of 'realism' it's in it's portrayal etc.

The reason it may not conform to realism is because it's practical and aethetic qualities, the why was it built like that, to look the way it does etc.

You could build a car that's agiant sphere, it's the why that matters.

Well, if the technology of hovercraft were readily available, and this design were applied to it, you know what you'd have?

Okay, but if the thing has a practical explantion in the movie for its design and function, what's the problem?

And readily available technology doesn't apply, since this is all one-off, specially-built protoypes.

that a more suitable design is easily conceivable, however I think this is liek the mk 1, where it's not fully finished yet because the tumbler is destroyed etc...

Cyrus, you're probably right, and wolf, about prototypes and all that as far as realism and plausibility, but I personally don't think it's the best look for it.

That's fine, I won't debate this from a purely aesthetic POV because that's a matter of personal preference. I like the thing, but I can look at it and say, "you know, it looks a little gangly and awkward to ride." I just don't feel that applying the speeder bike argument to the realistic tone of the movie is valid.

It's not even really a true Batcycle though, is it? It's more of an escape vehicle for when the Tumbler inevitably goes boom. In that sense, I think that the stripped down look is perfectly suited for its supposed function.

we need to see it in action etc, but AT THE MOMENT, I fell the design is quite impractical for batman as portrayed in the franchise so far.

I thought it was confirmed, or at least pretty much confirmed, that it doesn't come out of the Tumber? At least that seems to be the consensus around here.

I'll agree to seeing it in motion. That would give us a better idea of how it works and how it's used.

I think it's a replacement for when the tubmler does get destroyed.

Hence the reason it's a prototype, because he needs to use something that isn't quite finished yet, as the alternative is out of comission.

I'm not saying that you're wrong, but I've neither heard nor read anything that confirmed that it wasn't an escape vehicle.

Quite, but that's a different point. Not liking the look is different to not liking it because it's not realistic.

I actually didn't like the tumbler that much until I saw the movie - and I think this will be the same case with the batpod.

What to make of the pod: a haiku.

"That thing is teh sux."
"Really? Cuz I think you suk."
Debate rages on.

It´s not a flying pod, for Chrissakes, it´s a cycle, what´s the "realism" problem with that? Like with Tumbler, all the design decision are related to the practical applications. But some people WANT to find problems, so they´ll find a way to see them.

There´s an influence, but nothing that blatant. So it would be more "original" if it was a kawasaki Ninja with a bat-hood, I guess...

:D:up:

Doesn't look very comfy, lol. I can see how it might come out of the tumbler. The bike looks to be positioned on the right side of the vehicle, and maybe Bats does that thing where he goes down into the car (like in BB) and then out pops the car (just like childbirth) :p
