Just as long as Bats doesn't forget to wipe with the white stuff and glide with the black stuff, he'll be okay.

It's definitely from the Tumbler. Escape vehicle or rebuilt from the wreckage, it definitely comes from the Tumbler. The wheels are the same, and it looks like that thing really is built on the struts to which the wheels are attached.

I doubt both accounts. Chris Corbould in the quick interview that was on msn.com said that its simply "from the same family" as the tumbler, which to me means that it was designed along with it, but not as a part of, or out of it.

That may be the case, but there's been a lot of deliberate misdirection from the production as to not reveal plot points and character's names and such. I'm relying more on critical thinking than what anyone says, including cast/crew.

can you imagine all the engine vibration and road shock soaking into your chest and stomach? that's like inviting a heart attack. hope he doesn't hit any curbs.

It's the same seating position as any other drag bike.

do drag bikes go off-road often? seems like they're driven exclusively on pristinely maintained well-engineered ultra flat drag strips -- not down city streets replete with potholes, cracks, tight turns and curbs.

It has applied sciences® bat-absorbers! Duh!

Has anyone brought up the guns on the Batpod? I'm not the most knowledgeable person about Batman, but doesn't he dislike guns because they lower him to the level of a criminal?

Not sure but the tumbler has missiles

Well, not if he uses them more as tools than weapons, like shooting a hole in a wall something similar. The Tumber had weapons, as did the Batmobile and the Jet in B89. In fact, in B89, look at all the ordinance Batman shot at the Joker during the parade, and he missed.

That's what suspension is for. :) He had RG3 dial in his compression and rebound for him.

As much as I dig the new bike, I'm suprised with all these BatPod jokes that no-one's vectored an image of Batman into a black silhouette, put him against a coloured background and added a white ipod and headphones.

As I'm sure you've seen, BOF is reporting the following:

* The Bat-cycle WILL be in the film, and will look similar to the Tumbler style-wise. They have build ten of these for various purposes.
* They are planning on having the Bat-cycle "emerge" from the Tumbler. The use of CGI may be incorporated to make it happen.

This seems to go contrary to what we've heard -- as in the cycle being an alternate form of transportation once the tumbler gets destroyed. Also, if the cycle were actually a part of the tumbler, wouldn't Fox have mentioned it in BB?

I, for one, am hoping that neither of the above are true. Since hearing the first rumors re: the Bat-cycle I've been fantasizing about a "Year 100" type dirtbike-style slim machine (that folds into itself and hangs from the ceiling like a bat).

Your thoughts?

Rofl? why? that's not even practical.

I think it's a great Idea, the tumbler needs to be reworked, the batcycle is a great idea.

well in the beginning there was this. kinda the same.

in the context of the book it actually made a lot of sense. by hanging from above (like bats often does) it stayed concealed, out of normal line-of-sight. that's a lot better than parking it in an alley ala the tumbler IMO. fits more with the covert / tactical style you'd expect in using a bike over a tank.

Well the stunt guy seems to feel it is very maneuverable from the interview he gave, the pod name we think comes from it being a kind of escape pod inside the Tumbler

I guess I was hoping after the bulky tank of a tumbler we'd get something that looks like it could take a turn at 150mph, with 'looks' being the key word. Something sleek and small.

I suppose Bruce Wayne drives the pretty but useless cars but Batman has the ugly but handy cars/vehicles.

well i've concluded this is the most awkward vehicle i've ever seen batman ride in my life.

but I've seen buckaroo banzai so nothing really surprises me anymore.

I agree. The handles give it a very "podracer" kind of feel.

Not terribly excited about it.

Yeah, I remember that stuff. But Burton moved away from the true Batman story quite a bit didn't he? I remember seeing those movies as a kid and thinking "doesn't Batman hate guns?". Many of my friends were confused after seeing Batman Begins because they thought Joker killed Bruce's parents because they grew up on Burton's movie.

Why settle for "looks" when we may actually get to see it, the tumbler does over 100mph and the production designer said the bike goes as fast

By all that is chunky like a fat nosed monkey, that is the most horrid looking thing since The Flintstone's car. Great, now I don't like the Tumbler, the new suit or this thing of a Pod-Bat.

But shouldn't the bike like...I dunno...go faster?? It just doesn't strike me as being something that can take corners without hitting a telephone poll or smashing into the front window of the Gotham Bakery.

LOL! Funny image in my mind....
