Batman (1989) Enhanced version on AMC, July 1st

I saw the first 30 minutes but now I'm watching Grease instead.

Is Nick doing justice to it? I'm not really watching. Its just in the background. I'm just waiting for 10:30pm. :yay:

Oh yeah, not too much is changed, surprisingly.

15 more minutes.

I love this film but I'm not sure if I feel like tuning in or not because I dont want to see commercials. Ah what the heck, I'll probably catch the enhanced version once Grease is over.

So the NYC politician thing was intentional that I didn't know but honestly Lee Wallace and Ed Koch are practically identitcal.

^ lol a few seconds after this post they said the same thing ha ha.

Wow, alot of facts i didn't know.

Because I wans't around in 1989 i had no idea Billy Dee Williams was supposed to parallel Dinkins of NYC. It all makes sense now.

Nicholson pretty much got final say on everything about the Joker in this film lol

Yeah, WB didnt make any bones about how much they wanted him for the part. Jack's "deal" with the franchise is a very good indication on that.

My god, mostly everything that has ever been complained about in this movie was not Burton's fault!:wow:

It was all because of Jon Peters and the producers at Warner Bros.! Burton had such little control over the film due to the pressure surrounding him. He didn't want Prince in the film. He didn't like some of the revisions made, but they tore his film to bits.

Man, I no longer sympathize with Kevin Smith about Tim Burton.

Batman was the first film in history to pass 100 Million in 10 days

"Kim Basinger is about to call Robert Waul's character Elliot.... when it's actually Alexander Knox."

I've always wondered that!!!!!

Vicki calls him Elliot? I always thought she called him "Allie". which would make sense since he's Alexander.

You give Burton pure creative control and you get Batman Returns.

True. Which was great, but also a double edged sword as BR caused WB to become suddenly resistant on giving the reigns to Burton for a third time. Which sucked for all of us. :(

And instead we got Schumacher who would go on to make Batman & Robin.

As much as I love Batman Returns I still think it's inferior to B89. Burton should have kept what worked in B89 and fix what didn't - Instead he just re-did everything.

Thats how some director's are though, they simply loathe repeating themselves and want the sequel to be as different as possible. I believe even Chris Nolan has said that TDK will be different in some respects than what we saw in Begins. Maybe not to the Batman Returns extent that Burton went with, but you get the idea.

Except:
Richard Donner
Francis Ford Coppola
Sam Raimi
etc

i like the little tidbit about George Clooney near the end: "I could've played a straight Batman, but with the suit and the nipples made him gay." :woot:
