Batman Begins Batman Begins Network Premiere

Bah. Big deal. They show it on F/X every weekend.

Well, it's no news that movies usually make their debut on network television three years after since their theatrical debut.

Just caught the last bit of BB right now, the commercial breaks are just awful I can assume the same went for editing.
Batman Begins will see its network tv premiere next Monday on ABC. This is so typical of a tv studio trying to cash in on a recent success.
:hehe: The description on my directv guide even mentions the "Dark Knight" which is different from the description that FX puts out.

I usually catch it every time it's on FX. I caught it on ABC from the point where scarecrow gases batman.

It didn't do that great in the ratings. Okay, but not great:

ABC populated the evening with theatrical Batman Begins, which averaged a mere 5.68 million viewers (#4) and a 1.9/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#3) from 8-11 p.m. Remember the days when movies were big events on the small screen? Times have changed, and not necessarily for the better.

Was ABC expecting an American Idol type of numbers, what with cable TV, DVD's, online downloading practically the whole world has seen Batman Begins by now.

I miss the days when buying VHS movies were expensive and watching network movie premieres became almost an event to gather around the family.

I remember as I kid I'd love when a movie would debut on tv cause Id get to stay up later to watch it. Now a days your lucky if the movie that comes out on Friday isn't online within 24 hours and that number is trying to be considerate

If I remember right there was a big sports event on ABC's sister network ESPN. Both are owned by Disney. They basically screwed Begins over, probably because they're pissed that its sequel kicked the crap out of Pirates 2 at the domestic box office.

In case you're wondering, I'm only half-kidding. :cwink::woot:

EDIT: Yep, it was the big Eagles/Cowboys game on Monday Night Football. Drew a huge audience b/c they are two of the best teams in the NFL and because they have two of the biggest fanbases in the NFL.
