The Batman series has always had top level production values. You hardly need mention the art design, but the costumes are always superb, the special effects are always first class, wonderful sets, full orchestral scores with choirs, make-up is excellent, and so on and so forth. I'm always impressed by this.

Even with Batman & Robin, sure, the tone and style of the film are debatable (to say the least), but you can't fault the effort and workmanship that went into it. Take Freeze's costume - sans nipples, it's a fantastic piece of work. Intricate and convincingly tough-looking. It was actually built by an English armourer.

It's one of the great things about the Batman series for me. Even Superman has had a cheap and pathetic movie, but Batman has always been first class, no expense spared, with the top people in their fields working on the series.

I totally agree.

Btw, Dragon who did the Freeze suits. He also worked on Batman Dead End, If i remember correctly he made the Batarangs for that short film.

Only if you don't take in account these old serials. They were pretty cheap productions:

Yeah, I'm obviously not talking about EVERY SINGLE LIVE-ACTION BATMAN PRODUCTION, I'm talking about the movie series.

Ok, I kinda figured that. You know, if you take out those old serials (1943 and 1949), it's really amazing how lucky we Batman fans were in terms of production values.

The forties serials were made by the standards of that time. Every serial was very cheap at that period.

The sixties' TV series had a huge production though. I mean, only that Batmobile is already a work of art by itself. Large sets, an entire constellation of a stellar cast, etc.

Then, when WB got the rights for Batman, the productions became even greater. Even the Onstar commercials had a fairly great production value, when you think that it was just an advertising piece.
How lucky we are.

Batman has been treated well on screen (Budget wise) since 1989. Every Batman movie, like Jim Carrey said, "Has the best people of every department coming together to work on it."

I agree. That's why I cringe when fans talk about a Tv series which could come as a new Lois & Clark or Smalville.

The 60's Batman show still looks absolutely fantastic.

Lois & Clark was very cheap and unconvincing, but Smallville has the best production values I've ever seen on TV, some of that stuff is better than a lot of movies. The time Clark flew after the plane was incredible.

yep. tis true.

All the big budget films had fantastic production, alot of hard work went into them. I also think B&R showcased some of the best costumes in the series. Especially Freezes costume.

I remember Freeze's outfit from Batman and Robin. Ya know, that's actually what Arnold Schwartzenager looks like without his make-up.

I loved the freeze look.

But hated the bat-costume. Didn't like the nipples, huge cod piece, 8 pac, or shiny blue tone.

Yeah I must say, Freeze had a Badass costume in B&R, looks perfect for the part.
