I know they want a different approach to Marvel, and that is totally awesome. I'm all for some diversity. But i mean, everything i've seen of this film just makes me think they are all a bunch of miserable c***s.

He looks camp enough as it is. A wry smile might at least have acted to acknowledge the comedic value in the costume.

He's not even really scowling though. His eyebrows are slightly slanted and that is about it, he isn't doing anything with the rest of his face. So you want his eyebrows to be raised? Again I just think that would be terrible.

But seriously i'm not just talking about the physical design. I'm talking about the mood i get from the picture. Same with the Superman picture with him scowling in the rain.

Seems this Justice League are all going to be angry and/or sad. I guess because superheroes are serious business. And serious and dark obviously = more mature.

If we were to go off of Marvel's promotional images, we could draw the same conclusions:

Superheroes are often displayed as serious and/or intimidating in promotional imagery, regardless of how they will be portrayed.

He's not scowling though. He literally has a neutral expression on his face. Actually, Bryan Cranston once discussed in an interview that making Heisenberg intimidating required having absolutely no expression on his face.

Besides, it's the overall impression along with the barbaric look that I don't appreciate very much. It's not terrible, there are some elements I like, but I think it could have been done better and in less overtly "badass" way.

I'm not "dead set" on hating anything. I have been and remain a cautious optimist with regard to these movies. I was interested to see what would be done with Aquaman's design. Now that I have seen it, I think it sucks. Oh well.
