In Apocalypse only near the end of the movie is when Mystique and Beast actually look like Beast and Mystique.

I wonder if the actors will accept to wear make up in this movie for the whole movie or if Beast will still be using his secret formula to hulk up only when he wants and Mystique will be looking like Jenifer Lawrence the whole movie.

If they use the costumes like they did in the end of x-men apocalypse then they wouldn't have to use make up on the whole body.

Beast needs to at least have a image inducer. No more cures

Only way I can stomach having these two in Dark Phoenix is if they are in make up for the whole movie.

They need to be in makeup the whole movie like Bautista Saldana and Gillan in GOTG.

I actually kind of like Beast as a Hulk-style "transforms when he loses control" type character. He needs to go beast mode more often though.

I can accept Jennifer being the go-to human form for Mystique (much like how we see Rebecca in X2), but Hank needs to be blue all the time. Hoult was a good young pre-transformation Hank, but we need him to be more like Kelsey Beast now.

Agreed.

Mystique... eh. I don't really care at this point. The character is established as switching out a lot so it's fine. I'll be happy if Lawrence looks alive this time around.

Beast needs to be blue. He should have been his furry self last time, no more stalling. I hope they step up with his make-up too. Bring in some CGI tweaks as well if necessary.

Lets hope so.

I agree with you, there is just not excuses, especially them having costumes now to not be covered head to toe in blue make up. They should be blue the entire movie, I can see Mystique transforming as long as it isnt the basic form she always resorts to.

Pretty sure the studio doesn't mind them being not blue, less cost for them lol it's all about the $$$

Personally i think its less on money and the studio and more on the creative team feeling the character is more important then how they look.

Its like with blink they made alot of effort with her make up in DOFP almost like she could be a more visual piece because of her small role but with The gifted they reduced her look down to the point you can barely see it, presumably because she will shine more through character then her appearance so no one was kept awake at night worrying that she might look mutant enough.

They're not mutually exclusive. Not being able to utilize both is just laziness.
Exactly true, theres no reason they cant do both. We can get the look as well as the characterization it doesnt have to be one or the other.

Yea your right about that, but Im hoping thats not the case this time or they should just keep them out of the movie if it costs to much to keep them in the form they are supposed to be in.

I doubt its down to money, i can't see how much of the budget they would be saving with less make up.

I think it's the actors fault. They must have something on their contract that gives them a free pass on not using blue make up for the whole movie.

Or its just the choice of the creative team.

Its like saying why did Mcavoy have hair for 3 movies? i guess he had it in his contract that he didn't have to shave his head which i have heard some make that assumption around the time of DOFP that he should be replaced because he obviously didn't wanna shave his head which is part of the role dammit!

Everything is possible. We don't have access to their contract. The truth is out there.

All I know is that the famous the actor gets, their demands increases and they are no longer willing to do everything the Director or Writers wants.

Omg please dont get GuestStar started lol.

I think that's an excuse that doesn't wash. It's undermined right of the gate too, because we've seen both characters work well in full make-up, over 10 years ago. It's how they're supposed to look. The is certainly an old-school filmmaker stigma about hiding actor's faces. We've seen it mentioned about Cyclops' visor and Spidey's mask in the past as well. It's dated and stupid, and needs to stop.

This is a horrendous excuse, because neither Beast nor Raven were very Beast or convincing anti-hero Raven in Apocalypse.

Are we thinking of the comics or of the film version of the characters?

You probably could look at quicksilver for example and say he is a far more comedic character for the movies then the source material.

No duh they're writing for the film adaptations of those characters - they're just done unconvincingly and or inconsistent/underwritten in the case of Hank. It's not about comic book expectations once again lol...

Ok just checking ;)

This is like asking if Fox will get tired of featuring Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence in underperforming X-Men movies.
