Fantasy Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice returns!

I am hoping that they do something for the first film all the film has is I think the trailer and 3 episodes of the cartoon from the 80s. I remember the DVD having an isolated score track which I loved.

I mean, they mostly had everybody back to do a retrospective documentary and at the very least a commentary by Burton.

Surprised they didn’t.

Probably cause they didn’t realize how big this would be. Maybe now they’ll capitalize.

I liked Beetlejuice Beetlejuice well enough, but there was just… something missing for me. I can’t quite put my finger on it.

I completely agree. The movie fell totally flat for me apart from a few moments. I doubt I will see a 3rd movie at this point.

It was definitely one of the better legacy sequels and Tim Burton really got to let loose with horror elements you wouldn’t expect in a mainstream sequel (baby Beetlejuice anyone?).

That said, agreed. If Burton is handing it off to someone else forget it… which I suspect he might based on comments he’s made.

Beetlejuice X3 for the title, as Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is way too long and repetitive for a movie title.

People are just going to call it Beetlejuice anyway. BBB is way toooo perfect of a title to not use it.

Make this the FINAL one.

I'm skeptical it'll even happen. I think Burton will either A) Not direct, meaning we lose Keaton or B) Spin his wheels and stall.

We'll see.

There have been longer titles, and also similarly repetitive titles:

People mostly refer to Beetlejuice Beetlejuice as "Beetlejuice 2" anyway. Same thing would happen if the third movie is called Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Well I guess Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice would sound consistent with the first two films.

Beetlejuice
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

WB would be idiots (which makes it believable) to not do everything in their power to get Burton back.

The biggest problem I had with the sequel was they had to many storylines going on and needed to drop one. Bride of Beetlejuice should've been its own movie. They should've alluded to her in this one and end it with the third.

Ditto. It felt like a meal that didn't satisfy your hunger. The plot was kind of all over the place too. The whole Beetlejuice ex wife sub plot was utterly pointless.

I think the thing that didn’t work so well with the sequel for me was that we didn’t have anyone normal as our way in. There was no Adam and Barbara.

Which isn’t to say they should’ve brought Baldwin and Geena Davis back, because I feel like there were a number of reasons that couldn’t have worked… but in the original film both the Deetzes and Beetlejuice stood out because they were playing off a couple of normal, “boring” ghosts like the Maitlands. In this one… no one really stood out.

The Deetzes felt a little less extreme. Beetlejuice felt a little less extreme. Willem Dafoe just had a cool face, etc.

It's more of a sequel to what Beetlejuice has become beyond the film, then the original film itself. This presents some general issues, but also makes the parts that do feel like a genuine sequel really stand out.

My biggest marks against the film are Bellucci's character (or lack there off), that the film takes it's time up to Halloween night, and deciding they needed to show the face of a pedophile so damn much.

That said what I love about the movie, I love. The three women are beyond terrific and Keaton is Keaton. The finale is like a dream come true. I was honestly surprised that the creative team could come up with some actual creative ideas considering how little there has been on Wednesday.

Side note, but I find it interesting that they bring up Lydia and her husband were having issues before he died, but just kind of ignore it for the rest of the movie. That felt like a big thing to bring up and then do nothing with.

I always felt that they could've. Explained it as Barbara and Adam always wanted to 'grow old' together, and they chose to naturally age as their living selves would've in order to live that out.
