It's more of a sequel to what Beetlejuice has become beyond the film, then the original film itself. This presents some general issues, but also makes the parts that do feel like a genuine sequel really stand out.
My biggest marks against the film are Bellucci's character (or lack there off), that the film takes it's time up to Halloween night, and deciding they needed to show the face of a pedophile so damn much.
That said what I love about the movie, I love. The three women are beyond terrific and Keaton is Keaton. The finale is like a dream come true. I was honestly surprised that the creative team could come up with some actual creative ideas considering how little there has been on Wednesday.
Side note, but I find it interesting that they bring up Lydia and her husband were having issues before he died, but just kind of ignore it for the rest of the movie. That felt like a big thing to bring up and then do nothing with.
