Saw this for the second time tonight...enjoyed it even more :D

Anyone heard the musical score to this yet? I remember really enjoying the music at a few points in the movie and really felt the emotion from it in a few scenes, particularly when Doung visits his dad in prison and also the end of the movie. I'm listening to the score right now, and while some parts are very generic, others I really love.

I ****ing loved this movie...Saw it tonight with Wall Street and I have to say its on par with The Departed for me.

Great film. Affleck was good in this and he's an even better director. Great actign and there's some nuanced stuff that I just loved. Like Cooper's sudden lash out when he leaves the booth after talking to Ben. And I loved that moment when ben in the nun mask sees the kid looking at him in the van.

Solid Film, with Solid Performances.

Boston Films kick ass. Great Job Affleck.

9/10

Good movie, although it felt like we've seen it all before in movies here and there. But superbly acted all around. Ben needs to lay off the aerial shots though for scene transitions. About 3 too many.

Aren't those nun masks really just John McCain masks? It looks like him.

hahah i agree, i knew they looked familiar

Yeah me too. Wouldn't mind dressing up as a bank robbing nun for halloween :O

Saw it last night. I loved it. Great performances from everyone, especially Jeremy Renner. He really stole the show.

"You have three seconds to surrender!"

"**** you!" :awesome:

I love that scene. He knows its him. He even called out his real name. Then his brother stood on and watched. There was nothing he could do.

I loved how Jem
gulped down the soda before he went out.
That was a great touch.

i've seen the same faces but in an old lady mask and it comes with hair wrap like an old russian lady lol

I saw The Town yesterday, and I really liked it. Going into the film, I was worried that it would suffer under the shadow of Heat, and as I watched I did note quite a few parallels, as is somewhat inevitable given the nature of the story. But by the time it was done, I was left thinking I might have actually liked it more than Heat (a movie I've tried to love with multiple viewings, but still leaves me cold on an emotional level even if I can appreciate the technical artistry).

Ben Affleck is proving to be a better director than he is an actor, but having said that I think that he is somewhat underrated, and has proven he can deliver when on-form. And with this movie, he gives possibly his career-best performance as well as showing the kind of flair and ingenuity that could propel him to the directing A-list. But even better are the supporting cast peppered all around him. Jon Hamm makes for a great foil to Affleck, with Hamm building on his Mad Men success and showing that he could be a breakout movie mega-star in waiting. Rebecca Hall is solid, but Blake Lively surpasses her in a revelation of a performance, one that should silence any doubters calling her the weak link in the Green Lantern ensemble.

As for the antagonists, what I admired was the subtlety in the portrayal of what could have been archetypes. Jeremy Renner is playing The Loose Cannon, but while he could have easily gone for coke-addled, OTT scene gobbling in the vein of Tommy Devito from Goodfellas, instead Renner dials it back and lets us see the hurt and dejection that lies behind the swagger and the recklessness. Pete Postelthwaite is The Crime Boss, and it's his underplaying of the part that gives the character of the Florist his menace, as he is hateable in a totally believable way.

It will probably get overshadowed in the Best Picture race as the real heavy hitters make their splash in the coming months. But still, I hope The Town gets some recognition as one of the better films of the year so far.

Anyone read Ben was on the list for Superman but took himself out of the race. The main page comments basically tore him apart. It just proves more people need to see
The Town. I don't know if he would be right to direct Superman but he does have some credibility.

I think after DD he is done with superhero movies. He seems to really regret that movie.

Lol maybe he will reprise the role a dual film combo

Daredevil + Elecktra (husband and wife)

Absolutley LOVED that entire scene!

Lead cop: "come out with your hands up"

Jem: "F#$% you"

also I really think that second heist was on the level with heat in terms of robbery and shootout.

9/10 --- Amazing movie!

I was on the fence with this one, I loved the previews and...it looked good but it never got further than that with me but I finally decided to take my girl out for a night at the movies, she hasn't seen Wall Street 1 so 2 was not happening...SOooo glad we saw this!!!

And I was aware of the buzz but still kept hesitating. I had no idea it was gonna be this good! Damn! I wanted to see it again immediately after.

So theres a few holes and the love story kinda works but the shoot outs were incredible and really everytime I think about it that is what I loved! Every shoot out moment period. Very well done on Afflecks part. Although i still find his Boston accent a bit goofy sometimes...he doesn't need to use it, he could have just played himself. Everybody else around him did just fine but he was doing triple duty so I'm sure he felt he had to go harder on his own accent being surrounded by other amazing actors.

Someone mentioned their favorite moment, just one of the little ones, but mine was when
claire hit the alarm in the beginning with her foot and she looked up and Renner as Skeletor was already staring at her
the camera angle, the heartbeat moment you felt, it was cool and creepy!

Can't wait to see it again! Jeremy Renner might just get a nom too.

Whether he regrets it or not completely depends on how his marital relationship is going :oldrazz:
