I think the Marvel Essential line (and the DC Showcase equivalent) is a blessing for people who want to get into characters and can't afford or waste time hunting down individual issues. Some purists spite bile at them for being in B&W but to me that is a very small issue considering the amount of content you are getting.

I've heard people say that they've had some volumes fall apart on them but I have yet to have that issue, thank goodness.

I've read The Amazing Spider-Man volumes up to 8, 3 volumes of Tomb of Dracula, both volumes of Silver Surfer, one Iron Man, and 3 X-Men (the Claremont run), Volumes 4-6 of The Avengers and vol. 6 of the Incredible Hulk.

I was wondering if there are some hidden gems to seek out outside of the main titles? What do you guys think?

Any and all of the 70's Marvel horror books are all awesome... Man-thing, Werewolf by Night, Howard the Duck... Heck, even the Godzilla essential is awesome... Helps that I read a lot of those comics as a kid...

:yay:
