Simply, In which film did which actor best portray someone who was drunk or on some drug.

remember, funny and memorable performances are not necessarily the best.

cheers in advance

Jared Leto and Ellen Burstyn in Requiem for a Dream.

A lot of movies portray them in an exaggerated fashion for effect, but it depends. Some people act the exact same way sober as they do drunk.

Billy Crudup in Almost Famous.

"I am a golden god!"

Any movie with Marlon Waynes in it, especially Scary Movie and Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood.

But really he did do a good job in Requiem for a Dream.

And maybe in a tie would be anything with Robert Downey Jr. whether he was playing a person on drugs or not.

here's some of my favorites in no particular order:
1)Gene Hackman on heroin in "French Connection 2"
2)Humprey Bogart drunk in "Casablanca"
3)Stan Laurel drunk in "Fra Diavolo"
4)De Niro drunk in "The Last Tycoon"
5)Ray Milland as the alchoholic writer in "The Lost Weekend"(Oscar winner)
6)Frederic March as the alcoholic actor in "A Star Is Born"
7)Frederic March drunk again in "Best Years Of Our Lives"(Oscar winner)
8)Ingrid Bergman drunk in "Notorious"
9)Burt Young(Paulie) drunk in "Rocky"
Whew! After listing all this I need a drink!

5.Antonio Banderas as Zorro in Zorro movies
6.Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spidey in Spider-Man

Absolutely Nic Cage in Leaving Las Vegas. Damn, that was some good acting.

Joaquin Phoenix portrayed a very drunk junkie rather flawlessly in Walk The Line, in my opinion.

That's what I was going to say:up:

TO prep for the role, he would get drunk and film himself while completely wasted.

Those scenes where he was in the bank were classic.
