Best retcons in comics

Since we always talk about the bad retcons in comics, lets talk about some of the good ones.

I always liked that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were retconned into being Magneto kids and I think it was good that they retconned Toyman so that he was no longer a child killer.

Ultimate Doctor Doom wasn't the goat-legged mutant he was in his first appearances, who actually used his mind to show he was superior to the Frightful Four, The Fantastic Four, and pretty much every superpower in the Free World. I was very impressed with how well they turned the character around.

 

[Dread]

I stated this once before, but a good classic retcon was the revelation that Thor wasn't Donald Blake who turned into a god, but was a god who was turned into a mortal.

Oh, and Brubaker's Bucky stuff, for the 21st century stuff.
