We got 2 version of Thanos. One with Josh Brolin in 2014 GOG and one again Josh Brolin in 2048 Infinity War. Which one do you like more? The 2014 more comic book accurate one, or the 2018 more human like one?

We actually get both 2014 and 2018 Thanos in Endgame.

2018 Thanos is a much more nuanced character who actually has regrets and is capable of feeling love.
His exchanges with Gamora, Dr Strange and Tony show that he has depths, and actually believes in his mission - crazy as it is.

When he meets child Gamora in the soul stone, after the snap and she asked what it cost, when he answers "Everything." There's a lot of emotion there.

2014 Thanos in Endgame is less layered- but strangely a bigger badass, he crushes Worthy Cap, Thor and Tony without an Infinity Stone in sight. His fighting skills are on a par with Cap's easily.

While all this makes him a bigger threat, it also makes him a slightly less interesting character.

Thanos in GOTG is menacing but we don't really see enough of him to know just how crazy he is.

Tbh this is pretty far from the comics too, as Thanos doesn't really smile or make petty threats, he just kills people.

Just to clarify: My question was on the design.

2018 by light years.

That version is easily one of greatest movie villains of all time.

Totally agree. A really deep character, committed to a horrific cause that he's totally invested in but still feels the gravity of his actions.

You know that bit where he's talking to Gamora, and she says he doesn't know that life will destroy itself if unchecked and he replies that he's the only one who knows, Brolin really sells that line.

Looks like the thread grew beyond it's original intent, wow, how often does that happen ?

But, going back to tbe question of his look, in GOTG Thanos' armour almost completely covers him and it's very shiny - kind of the bling version of Thanos - I thought that the 2018 version, when armoured, looked much less bling and much more badass. Then when he leaves the armour behind he seems more human, more relatable.

*cough* Honestly, I see no real difference between IW Thanos and Endgame Thanos. The only change is that in one of those movies, he was winning, and thus was deeply indulged into his own personal messiah complex. The 2014 time traveler Thanos is the exact same person seeking the exact same thing. . . or to be more precise, the 2018 Thanos is the exact same person, and *would* do the exact same things if faced with the same situation.

This is my perfect Thanos looks wise. The GOTG design but more purple:

I personally prefer the more comic accurate 2014 design. The more human looking design is pretty good too but I never wanted Thanos to look more like a humanoid.

2012 Thanos is definitely in last place. That version just flat out looks bad overall.

As great as the design is for Thanos in IW and EG the GOTG version has honestly grown on me more over the years. The IW design works as far as making him feel like an actual character and giving him depth and emotion which he does show alot of in that movie, but I still feel like you could have had the GOTG version in EG and it wouldn't have made much of a difference at all considering how one note he is in that movie.

Can someone make the color of the skin in this HQ picture like darker purple? I try and try and it always comes out pinkish...

Yeah I was going to say I thought you meant that. Doesn’t make sense to compare them as characters with it being so one-sided and obvious.

I'd go with 2018, but I still have a soft spot for 2014 Thanos because of how close he looked to the comic version, particularly in the eyes. It took me a little while to get used to the Infinity War version after seeing the first images of Thanos from SDCC 2017.

How has Thanos changed skin colour shade from GOTG to Infinity War? In GOTG he's more purple and in Infinity War and Endgame he's more pink.

I prefer the 2018 design as to how much more "Josh Brolin"-y and humanized it looks:

In GOTG, Thanos obviously had a deep purple tan from spending so much time under the stars in his floaty chair. By the time IW rolled around, he had spent years in Sanctuary II and was paler and pink due to the lack of starlight on his Deviant skin. :wow:
