No spoilers, but I've seen Avengers Infinity War. I don't know how DC can do Darkseid now without looking like some pale imitation of Thanos. Thanos hasn't really looked like anything special in his small cameo appearences in other films. I just expected another CGI despot.
But Josh Brolin and the animators did an amazing job. Imbuing Thanos with a palpable sense of pathos and melanchony. Josh Brolin gives the film' s strongest performance. It's one of his very best performances, and I don't think it's an exaggeration to say Brolin has created a legendary vilain that stands comparison to to best of the genre, like Darth Vader (to be honest, Vader feels one-dimensional compared to Thanos).
But where does that leave DC's premiere cosmic villain, Darkseid? The characters are inherently similar. But because they pulled it off so well, I struggle to see how Darkseid will ever achieve legendary status as a film villain, when he does eventually appear.
