I am not familiar with some of the artists you listed, but I've always been partial to Bruce Dickinson. It really depends on my mood and the type of music I'm feelin' at the time. I love diamond Dave for Van Halen, but sometimes I want something a little....darker? That's where a little Rollins Band comes in. Or Danzig. It just depends.

Some of my favorites just to name a lot I suppose.

Dio
Bruce Dickinson
Rob Halford
Matt Barlow
Hansi Kursch
King Diamond
Russell Allen
Tim "Ripper" Owens
Midnight(Crimson Glory)RIP
Lance King
Howard Jones
Glen Benton
Geoff Tate
Blackie Lawless
Tom S. Englund
Roy Khan
Joey Belladonna
David White

dark is good. danzig hits the spot when in need of some darkness.

Christian Alvestam (formerly Scar Symmetry, now Solution .45 and Miseration) really needs to be on that poll:

Also, Alissa White-Gluz of The Agonist:

The absence of Zach de la Rocha (Rage Against the Machine) is almost criminal, as well.

Of those singers listed I liked Ian Gillan (in his heyday) the best, but I love Dio, Ozzy, Halford, Dickinson and Tate too.

needs more votes. do it. do it.

Any vote other than Ronnie James Dio is wrong. Although kudos if you vote Lemmy or Brian Johnson.

finally saw Motörhead live bout 6 weeks ago. damn good.

Would we be talking about old metal or new metal?

Old? Ozzy Osbourne(Black Sabbath), Ronnie Dio(Dio), James Hetfield(Metallica), Bruce Dickinson(Iron Maiden) and Joe Elliott(Def Leppard).

New? Tommy Rogers(BTBAM), Rody Walker(Protest The Hero), Daniel Weyandt(Zao)...to name a few. There are a few others out their today, but I only have a select few of new metal that I enjoy. OHHHH, and Human Abstract's old vocalist before they got that *****e from From First To Last.

talking any metal really. good one with Dan Weyandt. i need to listen to more Zao.

Looking at that list, I was wondering why you had Deep Purple in there and given you did why then not put in Led Zeppelin?

If I include LZ, I would say Robert Plant back in the day.

to me, deep purple were heavier than zeppelin. i'm more of a zeppelin fan than DP tho.
plus, gillan sang for Sabbath.
