This is strictly based on how they portrayed the character, not how they look or who you would've thought would be better.
Some of the most likeable women I've seen in comic movies:
N'Bushe Wright (Blade)
Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man movies)
Liv Tyler (Incredible Hulk)
Gwyneth Paltrow (Iron Man)

I wasn't overly impressed with:
Halle Berry (X-Men movies)
Nicole Kidman (Batman Forever)
Kate Bosworth (SUperman Returns)

Best:

- Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns
- Nicole Kidman in Batman Forever
- Gwyenth Paltrow in Iron Man

Worst:

- Jessica Alba in Fantastic Four
- Kirsten Dunst in the Spider-Man trilogy
- Kate Bosworth in Superman Returns

Oh-and I didn't like Maggie Gylenhall in "Dark Knight"; Katie Holmes wan't much better.

I loved Liv Tyler in The Incredible Hulk. I thought she was sweet and came across as very intelligent and brave women. I totally bought her love for Bruce and vice versa.

I didn't much care for Kate Bosworth in Superman Returns. Maybe it was her acting?

Worst:
Liv Tyler in TIH
Kirsten Dunst in Spiderman 2
Uma Thurman in Batmand and Robin
Margot Kidder in Superman

Best:
Jennifer Connelly in Rocketeer
Michelle Pfeifer in Batman Returns
Gwenyth Paltrow in Iron Man

I also give props to Michelle Pfeiffer. I hated the movie but I like what she did with what she was given.
The reason why I praise Kirsten is b/c of her chemistry with Tobey. Is she my ideal Mary Jane? No. (But after all these years, I can't honestly say who is) But she brought some great qualities to the role, mainly when she & Tobey were on screen together.

Worst performance I would say was Kate Bosworth in Superman Returns, I thought she was a terrible Lois and had non of the passion the character should have. Best performance would be Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper in Iron Man, loved some of her lines, like the one to the model about taking out the garbage and how she'd bought her own birthday gift with Stark's money.

Best:

N'Bushe Wright (Blade)
Michelle Pfeiffer (Batman Returns)
Selma Blair (Hellboy)
Leonor Valera (Blade 2)
Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns)
Gweneth Paltrow (Iron Man)
Margot Kidder (Superman movies)
Sarah Douglas (Superman II)
Jennifer Connelly (Rocketeer)
Penelope Ann Miller (The Shadow)
Famke Jansson (X-men)
Jessica Biel (Blade Trinity)
Parker Posey (Blade Trinity)
Jennifer Garner (Daredevil, Elektra)
Maggie Gyllenhaal (Dark Knight)
Lena Hedley (300)
Judith Hoag (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)

Indifferent:
Kirsten Dunst (Spider-man)
Liv Tyler (Incredible Hulk)
Jennifer Connelly (Hulk)
Katie Holmes (Batman Begins)
Uma Thurman (Batman and Robin)
Brittany Murphy (Sin City)

Worst:

Eva Mendez (Ghost Rider)
Jessica Alba (Fantastic Four and Sin City)
Halle Berry (Catwoman and X-men)
Alicia Silverstone (Batman and Robin)

Worst:

Jessica Alba in Fantastic Four.
Eva Mendez in Ghost Rider.
Kate Bosworth in Superman Returns.
Selma Blair in Hellboy. She did do better in H2 though.
Liv Tyler in The Incredible Hulk.
Jessica Biel & Parker Posey in Blade Trinity.

Best:

Margot Kidder in Superman.

Worst-
Eva Mendes -GR
Jessica Alba- FF & FF2
Halle Berry- Catwoman

Indifferent

Kate Bosworth- SR
Jennifer Connely- Hulk
Kirsten Dunst- Spiderman 3
Jessica Biel- Blade Trinity
Maggie Gylenhall(sp?)-TDK
Lena Hedey- 300

Best

Kirsten Dunst - Spiderman 1 &2
Famke Janseen- X2
Liv Tyler- IH
Gwenyth Paltrow- Iron Man
Michelle Pfiefer- Batman Returns
Jennifer Garner -Daredevil
Jaime King - Sin City

Oh-and I didn't like Maggie Gylenhall in "Dark Knight"; Katie Holmes wan't much better.

To be fair to both, it's not a great role; Katie Holmes was just there to lecture the audience on the concepts of law and morality, and Gyllenhall was just there to represent Bruce's lost life.

You know - and I hate to say this - the genre is so male-dominated that there are very few actresess given any chance to play a standout role. The generic girlfriend is still the same (See: Eva Mendes, Ghost Rider). When women are given the chance to play heroes, they are usually badly written (see: any movie about a female superhero).

Standouts? Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns, Judith Hoag in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This is an amazing performance. Despite great work from Elias Coteas, Hoag shares most of the scenes with the animatronic Turtles and it's mainly her job to convince us they are real. She does this amazingly, like in the scene where they are all laughing and joking at her apartment.

Alba was awesome in Sin City. Probably because she has such a simple role and she isnt much of an actress, but I thought she did well. Not the best, but not the worst.

Dude they weren't animatronic they were guys in suits. :cwink: Other than that I totally agree. my top five would be.

Best
1. Michelle Pfeiffer/Famke Janssen (Tie for their roles in Batman Returns and X-Men)
2. Gwyneth Paltrow (Iron Man)
3. Margot Kidder (Superman)
4. Liv Tyler (The Incredible Hulk)
5. Jessica Alba (Sin City I actually thought she did a good job:o)

Worst
1. HALLE BERRY (Catwoman, X1,X2,X3)
2. Jesica Alba (Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four:ROTSS)
3. Jennifer Garner (Electra)
4. Brittany Murphy (Sin City)
5. Jessica Beil (Blade Trinity)

Indifferent
1. Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns)
2. Jennifer Connely (Hulk)
3. Kirsten Dunst (Spiderman)
4. Anna Paquin (X-Men she did well with what she had)
5. Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Dark Knight)

LOL

I think we should give the TMNT stunt men some props. The body language of the turtles could make or break that movie and they pulled it off swimmingly. Most underrated performance out there :D

Best: Jennifer Garner in Daredevil
Worst: Jennifer Garner in Elektra

What happened?

Actually, i watched Batman Begins again about a month ago to prep myself for The Dark Knight and realised just how bad an actress Katie Holmes is, i recall her being bad in the past and it was always something i could ignore but... Seriously, i'm not a hater or anything but it has to be said... She is one of the worst actors ive ever seen! So much so that i genuinely dont look forward to ever watching it again! We're supposed to believe that not only this is 20 something, whiny, self-righteous, stuck up little b#tch is asst. D.A. but that SHE'S the one who's turned the head of Bruce "Nothing can distract me from my mission" Wayne? Yeah, right!
Burt Ward's Robin wouldnt have looked twice at her!

To be fair, you're right.

Best:

Liv Tyler in The Incredible Hulk. VAST improvement over Jennifer. Has amazing chemistry with Norton. Very funny, intelligent, smart and strong woman character.

Famke Janssen in X-Men and X2. She was given awful material to work with in X3 though. But everyone was in that movie.

Gwenyth Paltrow in Iron Man. EVERYONE in this movie felt like a character. Including Pepper.

Indifferent:

Halle Berry in X-Men and X-Men 2 (There are moments where she slips into Ororo's character. Particularly her scene in X-Men with Logan. And a great deal of her scenes with Nightcrawler in X-Men 2)

Kirsten Dunst in Spider-Man trilogy (She has amazing chemistry with Tobey, but very few moments where she even seems like MJ.)

Jennifer Garner in Elektra and Daredevil (She's not the Elektra of the comics, but she is still kickass in the role)

Maggie Gyllenhall in The Dark Knight (Didn't ever care much for Rachel, but she was at least better than Katie Holmes)

Worst:

Jennifer Conelley in Hulk (Terrible, terrible, terrible, overrated. No chemistry with Bana what so ever.)

Jessica Alba in Fantastic Four and RoTSS. (This woman is who you cast as the first lady of Marvel Comics? o_O)

Katie Holmes in Batman Begins (You couldn't get me to believe she's a District Attorney for a million dollars.)

Everyone else I'm either indifferent too or just don't care enough to list them. :o
