Well in preparation of the new TP I've replayed OOT, MM and WW. All great games. But I decided to see which Zelda game hypsters most prefer in the long running franchise.

Here be the choices then:

As great and brilliant as Ocarina of Time was/is, Link to the Past did some amazing work in laying the groundwork for what future Zelda games would be like... even moreso than the original, since the franchise was still developing itself.

LttP
OoT
TWW
MM <--- very underrated game!
LoZ
LA
ZII

I think after that the rest are pretty much even.

Had a hard time choosing between Oot and Lttp. There so close. I agree with Kipobe in that Lttp set up alot of foundation for futer Zelda's. But Oot pefected them and the scope of Oot is deeper. So I chose Oot.

OOT without a shadow of a doubt. Even after all these years, I've yet to play a game (even from the Zelda series) that has topped the fun I had with OOT.

heh, that's awesome. shame it'd be too heavy and just a distraction.

If it's plastic, how heavy can it be?

Playing six hours straight with an awkward oblong (albeit plastic) object is far too heavy for consistant gaming. It'd become an irritant.

nevermind. Don't want to get in trouble.

Ocarina of Time isn't simply the best Zelda game, its the best game ever.

It's very very very hard to pick between Ocarnia of Time and Link to the Past, but since Link was the game that made me love the series, I think I'll choose that one.

Okay my order (I'll hopefully give reasons and go more indepth later)

1. Ocarina of Time
2. Majora's Mask (SO UNDERRATED)
3. A Link to the Past
4. Wind Waker (doesn't deserve the bad rap it gets)
5. The Original The Legend of Zelda
6. Link's Adventures
7. Link's Awakening

I never played the others (Oracles and minigames) nor was I the hugest fan of adventures or Awakening either for the record though.

I really loved Oracle of Ages. I'd say its my second favorite Zelda game.

Link to the Past is my favourite but Ocarnia clearly is the best. I recommend the Minish Cap, defitnely pick that up for the GBA or DS, its got the Pegasus boots c'mon. Only thing I found annoying was going around Hyrule fusing Kinstones with people.
Wind Waker was beautiful and the usual Zelda goodness but its still good to see Link back in his familiar appearance.
Majora's Mask, lots of fun being a Goron and time traveling but missed an element. It was darker which was good but not enough temples.
Ocarnia of Time, well worth the wait. Also enjoyed the videos that chronicled the franchise from its 8-bit origins.

And lost in all this Twilight Princess hype is the other Zelda game coming out for the DS.

Phantom Hourglass. I am so getting that game.

As for the thread... A Link TO the Past.

My vote is a little biased b/c I haven't played all the games yet (I intend to buy them on VC), but my vote was for OoT. Of the ones I have played (LttP,OoT,WW), it was my favorite. I do believe TP will eclipse it, however.

Orcarina of Time is the best. It only beats Majoras Mask by a hair. I have a feeling that soon Twighlight Princess will take the title of best Zelda game soon though. Or atleast I'm hoping.

It's strange. If some one asked what the best game of all time was, I'd reply The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. But when asked which is the best LOZ game, I can't choose. They are all excellent.

which was the SNES game? That was simply amazing and my favorite. Im surprised Nintendo hasnt rereleased that on the DS or Advance

Link to the Past

1. They want people to download from the Wii Shopping Channel
2. It was ported to the GBA, Capcom added a new dungeon and multiplayer portion called Four Swords. Then there was a multiplayer game for the Gamecube called Four Swords.

Sweet. I'm the only Awakening supporter, apparently.

Do Zelda fans truly hate the ability to jump!? :(

I'm pretty sure that Four Swords on the DS is Link To The Past, the SNES title.
