Am i the only one that thought the thing with the head was extremely goofy? That's literally my only complaint though. 9.5/10. Can't wait to see how this all goes.

Extremely goofy? I don't think so. Do you know the world we live in? How sick some people are out there? Haha Google weird court cases or crimes and you'll find some weird ****. So extremely goofy? No not at all.

Sorry. That **** was goofy as hell. This is tv, not the real world. That moment completely took me out of the show. Sure, weird stuff happens in the real world. I don't see what that has to do with something being extremely goofy.

Theres your answer.

Hahaha ok Maximus. Completely took you out of the show? Little over dramatic no?

that looked like miriam colon who played tony montana's mother in scarface. so that would make 3 actors from scarface who were incorporated in the breaking bad/saul universe.

A little dramatic? I think you are brushing people having sex with a severed head to the side a little too easily. Opinions are funny like that.

6.9 Million Viewers

Only episode of BrBa that did bigger numbers than that was the finale.

oh god... i didn't catch the whole episode and I think i'll be in for a rude surprise tonight

It was a great start, i'm not holding my breath for something as genius as Breaking Bad, and i realy hope they don't go overboard with the cameos, but so far it's very promising.

And yet we have no problem with men bombing nursing homes, shooting children and mothers, lying to loved ones, decapitation, and cooking crystal meth. We're dealing in a reality of a show where people do horrible, insane things, which yes, the real world also indulges in to an even worse extent. And the world that Saul inhabits and the people he will defend will be people even worse than that, ridiculous and foolish too, which are the exact kind of people that end up on trial. Really, in the grand scheme of everything else and these two shows, the idea of necrophilia with decapitation isn't that atypical, despite us not really seeing it that much.

It's fine to be disgusted by a cruel act, but that's kind of the point because within that context, that's what they are on trial for.

I wasn't disgusted by it. I laughed my ass off at it because it was ****ing goofy.

It was supposed to be shocking but funny at the same time. Its black comedy.
But I still don't see how something that can easily happen in the real world is too goofy for television.

I didn't say it was too goofy. You guys are twisting everything I'm saying around like we're married or some ****. I said it is goofy. That's it, I found it laughable. I get it was supposed to be. I'm saying it was what they intended, I'm just saying in this case, in my humblest of opinions, it wasn't a good thing. That's it. Notice where I said that's literally my only gripe with what was otherwise a perfect episode? Yea, y'all are making way more out of what I said than was ever intended.

I enjoyed the premiere quite a bit. Hopefully the show can maintain a certain level of energy and intrigue without falling too much into recycling Breaking Bad characters.

I feel like the show will probably come into it's own and introduce new quirky characters as time goes on, with perhaps the exception of Mike who I'm hoping will be a regular. I imagine the early cameos, like Tuco, are more as a way to grab the audience.

Haha seriously, I was just about to post -all Maximus said was that it was goofy- and it was, as a bit of dark comedy that was the intention, to be morbidly goofy. That doesn't make it good or bad, it just is what it is.

I think it will offer a really intriguing point of view to some of the characters. Kuby and Huell have to come in at some point.

Excellent points - agreed that familiar characters can provide the hook early on but the show will have plenty of room to throw in new characters.

Now I want to see Huell played by someone really skinny (or just much thinner than the other actor). :oldrazz:

Fair enough, but you talked as if it was inconsistent with the show in which I was talking about. The goofiness factor is just part of the black comedy of Gilligan's writing. It's okay you didn't like it, but it just seemed odd that's the thing of all things that "took you out of the show" and how you said, "This is tv, not the real world" for something that we're pretty familiar with was just very jarring.

I was impressed by the first episode, but the ending had me begging for more. Good thing the second episode airs tonight!

Did not know we are getting Ep2 tonight, is this its official slot? So many shows now on Mondays.

Better Call Saul has the biggest series premiere in cable history.
The first night of the 2-night Better Call Saul premiere pulled in a very strong 6.9 million total viewers and record breaking 4.4 million among the key demo at 10 PM. While a 57% demo drop off from its lead-in, the Breaking Bad spinoff scored the top demo result for a series premiere in cable history as BCS took out previous top spot holder Deadwood. The HBO series had 3.7 million viewers among the 18-49s when it debuted on March 21, 2004.

The new AMC show is just behind the al time cable series debut record of 7.03 million total viewers that the June 13, 2005 debut of The Closer had. Obviously BCS is up from the last premiere to follow The Walking Dead. The 10 PM debut of Hell On Wheels snagged 4.36 million total viewers and 2.395 million among the 18-49s on February 6, 2011. Sunday’s Better Call Saul also had a far better result for the Breaking Bad prequel of a sorts than Breaking Bad itself did in the long long ago days of 2008 when it debuted. Airing on January 20, 2008, the first episode of Breaking Bad drew 1.4 million total viewers. Of course that was long before that other Vince Gilligan created series became a powerhouse of its own. The premiere of the fifth and final season of BB on July 15, 2012 had 2.93 million viewers. The midseason return of the split final season had 5.92 million viewers on August 11, 2013 and the finale of the Emmy wining series was watched by a series high audience of 10.28 million.
