Better Call Saul! - Breaking Bad Spinoff A Go At AMC

Sad that there are only 2 episodes left this season. I wonder if Mike's new employment seeking will bring him into conflict with Jimmy regarding this case? It seems they have the nursing home dead to rights and those people at the nursing home seemed a bit too quick to show their shady side. I wouldn't be surprised if in a round about way they possibly end up hiring Mike as a fixer to solve this problem for them kind of how Jimmy used him to deal with the Kettlemans. Jimmy may arrive at the conclusion that in such a world you can't trust to win by keeping to the rules and that others are aware of this fact beyond just him so in order to get ahead here comes Saul.

I'm hearing a lot of great things about this upcoming episode.

Good to know, Kane! Seriously, can not freakin' wait. This show has just been so damn insanely good.

Will Giancarlo Esposito Appear on Better Call Saul? He'd Sure Like To

Giancarlo Esposito would like to appear on Better Call Saul, please.

Giancarlo Esposito, best known for his work as Breaking Bad's Gus Fring, appeared at Dutch ComicCon over the weekend, which sounds not fun. If you have nothing else in this world to be grateful for, please be grateful, at least, that you feel no pressure to attend conventions around the world in an effort to extend the amount of time you receive acclaim for a somewhat small part—no offense to Giancarlo Esposito, he was great, and is great, I'm just saying—in a no-longer-running TV series. Life is a gift.

Speaking of, Esposito reportedly mentioned at Dutch ComicCon that he'd like to appear on the Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul:

"I told Vince Gilligan: If you do not put me in Better Call Saul, I will kill your wife. I will kill your son. I will kill your infant daughter."

Very intense Gus Fring quote choice, Giancarlo Esposito. Maybe instead you could have said, "A man provides for his family, Vince Gilligan." Or maybe, "Hello, my name is Gus Fring—please put me on the show."

In any case, it's rumored that Esposito might appear on Better Call Saul as soon as this week's episode. So that's good!

Make it happen Vince!

Eh, hopefully in a small role. Even though Saul referred Walt to him, there was no way Saul knew of the monster Gus was beforehand. He could deal with him because he would have to know about him, but hopefully he doesn't become too much of a recurring character. This show has more opportunity than blowing it out on just Gus again. It would be more of a Mike thing.

I can see Gus showing up around late season 2/season 3 kinda like with Breaking Bad.

Yeah, Saul outright tells Walt and Jesse that he "knows a guy who knows a guy... who knows another guy" or something to that effect. I wouldn't be surprised if they never actually met until the BrBa era of things. But, all things considered, Saul could also very well have had a working relationship with him prior to the show and could've just been selling his relationship with Gus short. Who knows?

I hope Esposito gets to replay Gus. I once saw an interview where he talked about how the network had pitched to him the idea of a show about the rise of Gus but Gilligan wanted to do a Saul show instead. He seemed disappointed. He clearly loved the role a lot.

I too hope to see Gus, but his story should be tied to Mike's not Saul's. Still, as we've seen, the show has no problem taking a focus away from Saul for a week, so I'd be all for more Mike-centric episodes that involve establishing his relationship with Gus.

Wow, I'm speechless. Bravo Vince, bravo. I kept thinking something bad was going to happen to Chuck but I never expected him to screw Jimmy like that. Amazed at the level this show is already on. I mean the feels, just so damn much. And man Kim, her emoting during the scene when Jimmy was blowing up just blew me away. This whole time you think Howard is the jerk and even though he is in some sense it just brings another level to his character. This episode just floored me

I kinda saw it coming. His enthusiasm for Jimmy after getting accepted seemed fake, and he was acting very fishy in this episode. But the reveal scene was still terrific. It would be a shame if Odenkirk isn't even nominated for an Emmy.

Did Mike's client remind anyone of a more naive, foolish Walter?

great episode! that final scene between Chuck & Jimmy/Saul was very emotional. can't believe the season already ends next week

anyone notice Trevor from GTA 5 on tonight's episode?

That was my thinking too. In the scene where the deal was going down I kept thinking "This guy's no Walter White..." and I kept remembering the 'say my name' scene.

I saw his name in the opening credits and was excited, it was a great little role for him. Ogg also showed up in an episode of Broad City playing a deranged pervert. Seems like his role as Trevor has type cast him a bit.

God that was heartbreaking. There's nothing worse than seeing someone you love and look up to think of you that way and set you up to fail. Chuck is absolute asshat. :argh:

I'm loving the start of Mike's "job".

Ditto! :D

Awesome episode. I guessed that it was Chuck who was really behind not hiring Jimmy a couple of minutes before the show revealed it but that's ok. Mike kicking the crap out of the other guy was great as well. My favorite line was when Chuck said "Slippin' Jimmy with a law degree is like a chimpanzee with a machine gun."

Wow, Chuck's betrayal pretty much explains Jimmy's regression into a "criminal lawyer".

I didn't expect it so soon.

I guess they're going to focus on drug lords mostly from here on out.

I think Chuck just became to Jimmy what the Schwartzes were to Walt. And his comeuppance is going to hit him hard and fast. I think that thing a few episodes back with the doctor suggesting Chuck be committed to a psychiatric ward might come back into play.

I'm glad I was wrong about my previous guess that Mike's new job would lead him into some sort of intersection with Jimmy and his class action suit.
