Beyonce Controversy: "Challenger Shuttle Explosion" Audio Sample Used In New Single

Orrrr, we can stop idolizing pop singers and making them out to be role models.

I do agree with what Rihanna said when she was getting flack for her behaviour, that she never wanted or asked to be a role model. People can't just arbitrarily decide that you're a role model and expect you to act according to their ideals. It's lazy parenting.

Girls and women should look up to more intelligent women, not pop stars or reality TV stars.

Or people can stop hating on someone they don't know and attempt to do something fantastic with their own life. Yet I know...some folks aren't really capable of that. Easier to keep on drinking the Haterade.

Criticizing someone for being tactless (like using audio from the Challenger tragedy in a song for money and attention) doesn't mean someone isn't doing something with their own life. Do you really think people who hate on Beyonce have boring lives? This is an internet forum, think about what you just said.

That's like saying you can't dislike the President because you're not the president.

Beyonce and her husband are evil influences in entertainment industry...no one should be shocked by this.

Evil? :funny: They're making money and exploiting suckers like everyone else. That's not evil, it's business, and the US is built on it.

These two believe acquiring money and power over all else is important...pretty evil. There comes a point where human dignity shouldn't have a dollar value price.

I'm not talking about people criticizing Beyoncé for this one incident. I'm talking about the people who hate on her for no reason and say stuff like "I just don't like her. She's a *****". Those people obviously have boring lives if they spend their time hating on someone they don't know. She's done nothing to them but be successful. Yet....certain people really have nothing going with their lives and it's hard for them to keep the hate they have for themselves inside. I've seen this a lot....right here on SHH.

Well, Beyonce has helped propogate the "independent, sleep-around-with-thugs, feminist culture that many young blacks now have to deal with....so yeah, I'm not a fan

And you've never disliked someone you haven't met :whatever:

This is the mantra of mega churches all across the US. Beyonce and Jay-Z are hardly the only or worst perpetrators. They're exploiting idiots, just like every other puffed up pop star, mega church, to some extent religion, reality TV producers and stars, etc etc.

Eh, I've never really cared for Beyoncé. Well, her music at least. It's either a female empowerment song or a "he dun did me wrong" song. Even though at times, I feel like the love she gets from girls/young women is borderline idol worship, she is a good role model. She isn't sleeping around or doing drugs.

No actually not.. For some people though it's like a compulsion because they hate themselves sooooo much. For me to dislike you.... I actually need to know you. If I don't then why would I spend time disliking someone I don't know? That's a waste of energy. But again...some people just can't help themselves. I'm sure you understand that.

So, what....Beyoncé and Jay-Z got the ring of power from Sauron now??

Your passive aggressive BS is cute, really. I don't hate myself at all.

I'm sure that's the mantra you repeat every night before bed to make you believe that.

lol, where did this come from? did I specifically say something about approving mega-churches?

I can foresee this thread and the Israeli abortion thread being closed lol.

I love myself. I'm awesome. I'm so awesome, I'm better than you. In every way.

Including the grammatical way. See how I used than instead of then? It's called being intelligent.

Try being that way, too.

PS. You can't "bait" me into getting banned.

Why did she do it? I like her new album and this song particularly but the clip is so unnecessary it makes me wonder if she didn't do it to be controversial for controversies sake.

I was watching it live on TV with my entire 3rd grade class. I remember our teacher crying out in shock, but other than that it was just dead silence as we watched. Truly it was one of the most shocking things I had seen at that point in my young life.

I...want to give Beyoncé the benefit of the doubt on this and believe she truly didn't understand how offensive it would be and was just trying to be...artistic. I'm willing to give her a pass as long she apologizes and donates some money to Space Camp. Is that still around?

Anyhoo, I don't understand why people hate on her so much. She is incredibly talented and tries to be a good role model for young women. She's not half as bad as some of these other no-talent singers, but she gets 3x as much hate. People need to stop drinking the Haterade!

I remember, I was in my reading class, and another teacher just walked into the room and said, "The shuttle exploded." I can still hear her saying it. And she said that everyone on board died. It was so sad.

My middle school science teacher was in the running for the Teacher-In-Space program. I'm not sure how far he got, but close enough that he was still pretty freaked out talking about it a year later.

I'm not like an avid Beyoncé fan, but I like a lot of her music and I loved her in Dreamgirls. Using the audio was a bad call for sure, but I don't have the time or energy to denounce her existence over it. Hopefully she'll use better judgement going forward.

are people shocked by singers who promote lyrics like this?

It's not the worst I've heard.

It's not very good writing, but it's fairly tame given what some singers sing about.
