Beyond phasers and photon torpedoes

I'd like to see the Federation ships (and others) have weapons besides the standard phaser blasts and photon torpedoes. Do you think we'll finally get to see some expanded vessel weaponry this time around? Hopefully so.. Anything worth lifting up from the novels?

I don't think they will be a major part enough of the storyline to add more weapons.

With that said I would love to see more. Wouldn't be interesting to have a nano-tube net?
