Ubisoft Ubisoft's Skull & Bones:PS4, Xbox One, & PC

I think graphiX would look amazing.

The gameplay... time will tell

I hope there's a single player campaign for atleast 20hours.

It was definitely unwise to focus more on ships and less on people sailing them. But time will tell

Expect nothing but naval combats, ship customization, sea-only exploration (no on-foot exploration of islands)...

The bit about Ubi being contractually obligated to complete this for Singapore, but no specific date when it must be completed by, makes me think this has become nothing more than a scam or a money laundering scheme or a rat hole that some executives are using.
From my understanding, it doesn't have to be completed. The game is probably not even finished, but it must legally be released on the date set by the Singaporean government.

That reveal...

That said, **** the racists.

Seems pretty meh. That's my first impression. Really a game like this should have been on its 3rd or 4th sequel by now. The sailing elements from AC4 were incredibly well received. All Ubisoft had to do was make a simple spinoff with the AC elements at the time and call it a day. It could have been so easy for them.

And yet this is where it all ends up. Live service GAAS meh looking title.

Idk. The graphiX looked inferior from the videos years ago. I plan to play it but it is still a wait and see, as that presentation didn't eXcite me.

It’s still early days. I think I’ll have fun with it but I could easily see them making a sequel that far surpasses the original

Skull and Bones delayed till March 9 2023.

Its almost surreal how badly Ubisoft has handled this whole project. I mean, even setting aside everything related to the actual studio being inexperienced and ( in retrospect ) out of their depth. On a fundamental design level, they had a template for what people wanted ( "More Black Flag, except without the AC stuff" ), and its like they were fanatically sworn to *not* doing that.

I think they liked the idea of ship combat more than gamers did. Gamers wanted to be pirates exploring islands etc not just floating and shooting all the time.

I’m fine with ship combat, can be a lot of fun. But if you’re sailing the seas for days you want to be able to explore the places you come across.

Yeah that’s my point, like I wanted to do more than just be on the ship the whole time.

oh well, maybe skull and bones 2 might be where it’s at. I mean, assassins creed as a franchise really only became assassins creed as we know it from the ezio era

Hmmm honestly I feel like this ship is destined to sink.

I just can't fathom a game inspired by Black Flag to take this long, with subpar graphiX and an uninteresting story. This would come and go like Riders Republic but at least that game looked good and fun.

If I were Ubisoft, I would put my resources to Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, The Division, Splinter Cell and Rainbow SiX. It seems their new ips don't really take off. And instead of trying to earn a new franchise, they should probably just salvage Watch Dogs because the potential is still there.

Christ Almighty just ****ing cancel it already.

They need more public or even closed testings. I got into one and the whole watermark thing made it practically unplayable for me. The short test period didn't help either.

Cool that you got involved. What does watermark mean here?

I once participated in a closed beta for an MMORPG and watermarking consisted of having my email being displayed across the whole screen so I wouldn't take screenshots or record footage that can be easily retraced back to me if I leaked them.

The Singaporean government helped fund the game so Ubisoft Singapore is legally obligated to release the game.

First It Was An Assassin's Creed Expansion, Now It's Ubisoft's 8 Year Nightmare
Eitherway, Ubisoft has bet big on the multiplayer pirate adventure and is determined to ship it one way or another. In part, that’s because live service games have become an increasingly important and lucrative part of the Assassin’s Creed publisher’s portfolio. But three sources also told Kotaku that a deal with the Singapore government requires it. In addition to hiring a certain number of people at its Singapore studio in exchange for generous subsidies, they said, Ubisoft Singapore must also launch original brand new IPs in the next few years.

It’ll be funny if this turned out to be like ocarina of time and turned out amazing
