Bill Hader is BARRY (HBO)

I need to see how this thing plays out cause not a fan of that time jump at all

it just a general thing with me i'm in the minority in this obviously

Yeah I was just listening to today's pod.

Hader knows what he's doing.
I was still holding onto it all being in Barry's head until Cousineau showed up wanting to speak to David Zaslav.

Also...

We thinking that was Fuches knocking at the door?

Did anyone else think the War Keepsake Box scene was weird?

First I thought someone left in the dirt... but Barry says 'I must have misplaced it' //

Before his comment, I assumed someone left it there to taunt Barry.

Nah, according to Bill on the pod it was supposed to be some kids playing ding dong ditch. They wanted to make it ambiguous so they left out a couple of lines.

Oh my, Sally.

I can't even remember what they were unstacking out there for him to have just unearthed it. I just recall there being an unnerving emptiness to whatever they were doing out there (lack of moving boxes or trash bags). The weirdness of that scene, for me, plays out like it was written to have taken place in a basement or storage shed and it's just inexplicably outside, almost entirely out of context.

So with the understanding he's no longer day-dreaming and this is reality, I saw this as he's clearly manufacturing moments out of a typical American Dream After-School-Special type of show, seemingly playing to an invisible camera/audience. He left that keepsake box there to have this idyllic Father-Son bonding scene. That odd beat where he stops himself on the steps to say "no, let's do this on the swing" is a dead giveaway to what he's crafting: it's his psychotic version of Happily Ever After...a carefully constructed prison in which others are hostage to daydreams coming to life.

Ahhhhhh, surprised I didn't see that. Especially with the swing line... initially took that as Barry just being awkward/weird - but being manipulative makes way more sense.

Finally caught up, and im surprised none of yall are talking about

Gene shooting his freaking KID?! What happened to him?! Is he alive??? Has Gene been wanted by the law this whole time?

I guess that's what happens when you bring Coral Tree Café. :o

Amazing ep.

Was that Podcast host, Danny McBride? Sure sounded like him trying to put on a more normal voice - up until the last lines in the supermarket.

There's a theory that it was all in Barry's head after being "interrogated" by Moss because Barry looks the same before the 7 years time jump in that last shot.

He doesn't have the scars/injuries from Prison, though...

Yeah, and I hate that theory. They showed too much from the other characters' POVs for it all to be in Barry's head. The time jump is real and people have to accept that. Jim probably just shaved his face to mess with him. Maybe he'll convince him the time jump isn't real, but it's real.

The theory doesn't hold much weight because how would Barry know the full extent of what happened between Hank and Cristobal?

Oh, never even thought of that - genius.
