I have a lot of questions about Mark Waid's SUPERMAN:BIRTHRIGHT, but one in particular has been driving me up the wall.

It has to do with the last panel. Of the last page. Through Lex's hokey-pokey Kryptonite vortex machine, did Superman actually relay the message to Lara and Jor-El that he landed safely on the Earth's surface? If so, how? Does this machine also aid in time-travel (perhaps by opening a wormhole)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I just assumed that the machine created a wormhole. Then I tried not to think about it too much, because it made my head hurt!

Yeah, the machine showed images of the past from across the galaxy. That's where Lex was getting all of those pictures of Kryptonian warships.

Near the end, Lex finally upgraded the machine so that he could also send images into Krypton's past, instead of only receiving them as he was limited to doing earlier. Before the machine blew up, Superman used that capability to tell his parents that he made it safely to Earth.

^^^ I find that really interesting.

Thanks, Spike.
