However, if Hardy is cast as someone else say...Deadshot....then Viggo Mortensen would make a great Black Mask also IMO.

Viggo as Black Mask, Tom Hardy as Deadshot and Marion Cottilard as Selina/Catwoman... would be perfect... but that's JMO.

He was great in ST, but he was very mediocre in LotR, and in most (if not all) of his other movies. Always imo. He's not been consistently solid.

Urban did a hilarious and entertaining DeForest Kelly impression in ST, but he's been pretty bland in most other things.

He does stoic good; I'm sure he'll be a fine Judge Dredd. No for Black Mask, though.

I tought he was excellent as Bones in ST, I hear he was very good in "Red", and ofcourse the real test will be his take on Judge Dredd.

If not Black Mask, there's always a Batman/ Judge Dredd crossover film.

I didn't know that Nolan wanted Viggo as Ra's. Interesting. I always thought Viggo could have been a great Ra's.

Then after seeing The Joker card in BB... I immediately thought Viggo could be cast as The Joker in the sequel.

Now, it's got me thinking that Viggo could still end up in the third Nolan Batman movie... as Black Mask.

I'm already preparing myself for dissapointment with Marion Cottilard not playing Selina/Catwoman... I better not get too excited about Viggo as Black Mask.

I would be perfectly ok with a casting choice like this. Karl Urban is a pretty good actor, I think he could handle the role.

While Black Mask is my perfect villain for this next movie, I haven't actually sat down and thought about who might play him in case Tom Hardy isn't actually playing him. It has to be someone close to Bruce's age considering they were friends as children. So I really don't know....I suppose Viggo Mortinsen is as likely a choice as any.

The best choice IMO, but I think it's also safe to say that if Black Mask were to show up, chances are, there could be changes, to character, appearance, motivations or all of the above. I think people get too hung up on the particulars, I think it's safe to say Nolan would take the best of him, and rearrange the rest
