Who has the rights for Blade now? Does New Line or whatever still have them?I'd actually like to see Sony get the rights so we can have a Spidey/Blade cross-over with Morbius.

I think it could be an interesting film... but the dark theme surrounding Morbius, and the more violent componet of Blade movies would alienate a lot of Spiderman fans (particularly those who view Spiderman as a good family flick, and the Kids who like the colorful hero tale).

There needs to be more time (like ten more years) to separate a new blade film from the Snipes movies.

That's not an idea I would go with. They have entirely different universes; I mean in one, the vampires rule half the Earth, and in an other, vampires don't exist.

I would stay away from this topic.

Well even in Blade the vampires are underground.

We saw this in Spider-Man: The Animated Series :o

Nothing wrong with that idea except that I rather not have Sony getting Blade, hell I rather Sony give up Spider-Man one of these days, see what Marvel Studios could do with him.

I know that Marvel Studios won't make R rated films, but as we can see from IM and TIH they don't shy away from death or violence, so I definitely think they could handle Blade. (be tough to top Snipes though)

They don't exist in two entirely different worlds, they are both part of the Marvel Universe, vampires is just one of the billions of threats present in it, and one of the better concealed ones at that.

Some people might think that bringing these two properties together would be a disaster, downright wrong, all muddled up with no clear direction... And it could be if it was handled by idiots...

One of the most important things to kept in mind is that it not be handled like Versus or Team-Up movies are (basically cheaply made or at least creatively poor and simply banking off of a gimmick.)

If Sony, Fox or anyone else did it I'd puke.

On the other hand if Marvel Studio was in charge I'd see this as a brave new step in superhero movies.

A superhero movie that starts off with an established universe and established characters, no origin story;
instead the movie focuses on telling a story, a story in which two unlikely partners need to work together, while Blade is a veteran at tracking and killing down Vamps of all sorts, he's never encountered one like Morbius and Spidey has reason to stop Blade from killing him and trying to get Blade to play by his rules even though Blade is convinced that it is his game.

Marvel isn't ready to do something that audacious yet, even if they were able.
The first step in this direction is the upcoming Avengers movie - by the time it comes out we will have been made familiar with all the heroes and possibly the villain (if the story revolves around fighting Hulk, seeing the good in him in light of a common enemy The Leader).

I would like to see a Ghostrider reboot that leads to a Blade cross-over...

Blade wont work as a PG-13 character and would never work in a Spider-man movie.

I want a Blade 4, bring back Guillermo del toro.. or get Spike Lee..

Eh...I'll just wait till the day Marvel gets every single one of it's properties back and they make a Secret Wars movie with every single Marvel character on screen together :whatever:

Marvel has finally embraced the idea of crossing over their characters. Iron Man/hulk/Avengers. I would luv to see Blade be re-booted this way. Having Ghost Rider is a good idea. But an even fresher one would be to introduce Moon Knight in his own movie with a Blade cameo at the end.

Blade could be the perfect vehicle to introduce (and/or re-introduce) some of the dark titles.

Blade has been a successful franchise, for the most part (Blade 3, not so much)... but I think that the character works and people are familiar with him. So, a new Blade movie could ellude to, or have cameos, or even outright supporting characters in Moonknight, Werewolf by Night, Johnny Blaze / Ghostrider, Morbius...

However, as I said, I would really like to see an outright Ghostrider reboot, as well. Some parts of the movie worked well, but overall... it was a stinker. And like Blade, GR could be used to intro other dark books. "GhostRider: Spirits of Vengance or Midnight Sons" with some cross-overs would be sweet.

Have Blaze cruising on the open road, running from his inner demon (literally). Do some Hulk'esque revamping of his history in narratives, flashbacks, and revelations... Get a better actor, better villians (maybe Blackout, Deathwatch or delve into Lillith and her crew), intro the travelling circus theme with Seer and go real deep like a psycological thriller. It needs to be a whole different brand of anti-hero movie.

I think WB own the rights seeming as New Line was one of their studios. I doubt they will do anything with them now though. Seeming as WB is also DC and Blades a Marvel character making a Blade movie would be kind of helping the competion.

I don't see Marvel buying the rights back either.

Its a shame I liked Blade 1 and 2. Marvel has quite a few supernatural characters that could make a crossover into a Blade movie. They could of made a midnight suns movie.

Midnight Suns:
Blade
Brother Voodoo
Devil Slayer

vs. supernatural monsters..

I think Wesley will return to blade very soon. He needs some money and I'm sure the studio will try to revive his most popular franshise...

He needs to get out of jail first. If Snipes doesn't get out in time or they don't want him to play Blade I suggest putting Jamie Foxx in some lifts.

IMHO, Michael Jai White is the best choice if Blade is to be recast.

I think White is a sub-par actor... but he has the build and the real life hand-to-hand skills for the part.
