Blue Beetle Live Action Series In Development?

Oh, he wasn't? Everything I ever read about the series made it sound like a spinoff.

Because it had the same showrunners as Smallville, but it was written as a standalone, different from SV's Aquabro.

Hartley's Aquaman was much better than Ritchson's version. If you haven't seen the pilot episode, you should check it out.

yea the aquaman pilot was pretty good. to bad it didnt go to series. I would have been interested to check it out. Though on the plus side we wouldnt have had green arrow by hartley on sv. Though that show big problem was due to the whole merger killed it. As for its spinoff status, it actually was produced/created by gough and millar and i believe they did say it was going to be not in sv continuity but could have been at a later point.

I agree 100% on both points. As for the Blue Beetle series I could care less. I'm not the biggest BB fan and I really don't like the newest version of the BB.

I like Reyes as the beetle it could work. Why not start in Smallville?

that could be what the plan is for all we know. Have him appear in season 10 episode and all that. Geoff has stated blue beetle/booster gold are two character he would like to wrote for in smallville.

Hell Yes. Looks way better than the crappy Absolute Justice costumes

And it's only a test shot too... the costume and effects are likely to get better when/if they get greenlit.

I'm still confused why this thread is even in here...

Are any of the Smallville crew rumored to be working on this?

^^ What Trip said. And as fas as I know - it's not associated in any way with Smallville or its crew members.

pretty cool test images. I wonder how it will look for real. If it actually goes into production. Hopefully it will. Cant wait to see what happens. I definately would love to see another super powered dc character make way to live action screens.

As for smallville crew sure right now no one we know of is on this. and even if they were its still in early prep stage. So if the show goes to series it likely probably wont be ready to go to next fall season. So who knows what writers/producers will get attached to it.

saw that image the other day when the images first brought online. I do hope if it does go to series it has the proper budget to pull off the show well enough.

What network do you guys think might pick Blue Beetle up. Personaly I just don't see it being on CBS, NBC or ABC. I think it would either be Fox or the CW. You might could throw in ABC Family but I don't see them picking it up because they're owned by the smae company that owns Marvel, but who knows. TBS and TNT could be an option just because their owned by the same people as WB and DC. With the amount of CGI it looks to have it's gonna have to be a network willing to give it a good budget.

Yea likely it will probably either be first looked at for CW, but it could go to fox like human target is there. Though its all about what type of target demo they are going for and all that. I could see it going to cable like syfy too if its anything like stargate shows, eureka, warehouse 13 they treat the shows there good and they all seem to have good budgets.

It's times like this that I wish Warner Bros. had a hand in a network that wasn't headed up by someone intending to aim all of the networks shows directly at 16 year old girls.

yea i know i really did wish the last the wb president was the president of cw then the former upn president.

I didn't even think about SyFy.

yea i think syfy would be a great fit for the show, and i am sure they would give it a proper budget. Heck all those shows i stated above seem to have a decent budget for a cable series and are able to pull off some good effects. Though its all about budget being used, and what effects studio they go with and all that. Plus probably where ever the show is being shot will play into things.

Well, look at it this way, atleast it's only the Blue Beetle that will be wasted in some form on the CW.....

I've mentioned my desire for an actual Martian Manhunter supernatural detective show a few times now(not connected to Smallville), but in no way would I want it to appear on the CW. The old WB perhaps, but not the CW.

well yea fade but presently we dont even know where this show would end up airing if it even makes it to series. So it being on cw or not is to early and who knows maybe they will not want it, maybe some other network would do it instead. plus who knows if the cw is around a few more yrs from now if dawn o leaves/get fires/replaced the next president might have a different point of view for network and it could be better then how cw has been run.

It would likely be on the CW because of the affiliation with Warners and DC.

I do hope DC gets a new President and point of view here soon. In my mind, it's been horribly managed from the moment it came to be and it needs to get back to producing and creating niche genre shows and sappy, but quality drama's.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Angel
Everwood
Dawsons Creek
Gilmore Girls
One Tree Hill seasons 1-3
Smallville seasons 1-5

Quality and Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, Dawsons Creek and Everwood don't work in the same sentence...
