Bluetooth headsets

I want to get a headset for online gaming at the end of the month but I have no idea what I should be looking out for or which ones are any good having never had before. Would anyone reccommend one to get or which to avoid? The official Sony headset sounds good and has some good reviews on Amazon, but it's on the higher price scale and I wouldn't know if I neccessarily need to pay so much.

Any help?

The best one is the official Sony one. You can do fine with any BT headset, but I think the Sony one is top quality and worth it.

I just found that Game has it for only £25 which is a lot better than Amazon. I guess i'll go with it then. Cheers

Are headsets really necessary for online games on the PS3 or do a lot of people get along fine without them? I don't really feel like getting one since I'm not the type of person to talk online much anyway, but I don't want people kicking me from games if they're considered absolutely necessary like some Live gamers seem to consider them.

I would prefer others to be on a headset for team based games. You can;t be a team when of your teammates is off on his own mission. I would never kick someone off though.

I rarely have a convo with my BT outside of games when I'm logged in. Exceptions were meeting up with some people from here in Home.

they say ANY BT headset will work well i bought a Emmerson one for like 20 bucks at a walmart. the console 'found it' and i entered the 4 zero pass code (this is common on any blue tooth headset either for the PS3 or a phone that supports BT 'like mine'). but it would not connect and i could not get it to work. i took it back and got a Motorola H390 for 35 and it works great. i can even plug it into my PS3 via a USB/mini USB (like the one for a digital camera) and charge it as well as the plug in wall charger.

I ordered some no name headset off ebay. Only for $14. I'm not using it much, but it works pretty well. I mainly use it when I play Battlefield.

ya got lucky maybe the emmerson one i got was a lemon, but i LOVE my motorola one .

I got the official Playstation Headset with Socom i think it is really good i even use it when i am driving it highly recomend it.

I'm still thinking about getting one. If there's any that interests me, at all, it'd be the MGS4 themed one.

I'm sure it probably sucks compared to the rest though.

from what Ive heard it does. I really reccomend the official Sony one. Its the best one to use for the system

I just picked up the Samsung WEP870. It works incredibly well with the PS3. I also got it because it converts to BT stereo headphones that I use with my phone. I highly recommend them.

I just got myself an official PS3 headset, and I love it. It was a bit expensive ($50), but its definitely a solid product. I recommend trying to get it for cheaper if you can, but even at full price it's a good deal. The audio is very clear and the noise reduction on the microphone works very well. The extra features like the mute button, on screen display and desktop mode are very nice as well.
