I was not as enamored by this as I was expecting. Didn't think the balance between goofy and straight was done well enough. I was a little surprised by how played straight this was. The goofy moments feel out of place, despite being quite funny. You can tell where things were cut down for the rating, but I didn't think it was much of an issue.

On the whole, definitely a decent time at the theater. Saw it with a full crowd who all enjoyed it. Comparing it to 2019 Child's Play feels pretty apt, I think they're on like the same tier.

I wished they kept it rated R I hope to see the unrated version at some point

I was entertained and I don't really like horror movies. They did have a good story message with relying on tech to parent, talking out feelings, grief, etc.

It was also an Ultron concept which I know was done before Ultron but a common theme done well.

This was pretty decent, but I do have some nitpicks. The lack of gore is a big one, and I felt like they gave way too much away in the trailer. That being said, I had a good time.

Not shocked. It should crack $80 million domestic. Off a $12 million budget, great ROI. I am glad that Allison Williams and Violet McGraw are coming back.

Side note, developed a small crush on Allison Williams from this movie. Led me to The Perfetion. Crush intensified.

Finally saw this and didn't think it was anything special. Pretty by-the-numbers and looked like a movie made for streaming.

Think I preferred the recent Child's Play remake.

I think maybe the hype slightly ruined it. I liked the movie, but yeah it wasn't anything special. It's also PG 13, so there's basically no gore and not a lot of kills...

The movie is doing well though, so I hope studios don't look at those numbers, and then think it's a good idea to massively go back to PG 13 horror movies. (like in 2000-2012, when they often didn't want to go R-rated)

I mean, it is doing comparable business as Smile and The Black Phone. I don't think it is going to cause a shift in focus in horror. We will probably see more PG 13 horror. And that isn't a bad thing. It is good to have some introductory horror before you get to the hard core stuff. Horror should be more than blood, violence, language, sex.

Most fans hated it, because they basically used the premise of that old classic Simpson's Treehouse of Horror episode with the Krusty doll...

so that's why they went back to the old Chucky. It's an okay movie, but it's not the Chucky you want to see.

the scenes with the dog and the neighbour will be more explicit, and apparently she also actually killed the 2 co-workers and some more random people at the launch party.

But I'm not going to watch the movie again for that.
