Eager to see this, the critical response just reminds me why I don't regard critical reaction to film/ music anymore.

I usually agree with critics or at least understand where they're coming from. It's one of those rare cases where I felt like I watched a different movie altogether. Personally I thought it was really good, especially considering all the drama around it, and it certainly exceeded my expectations. I had a great time and I think not only is a love letter to the fans but a pretty solid movie in general.

Odd seeing reviews state that, especially since Bryan Singer was behind it.

Or are critics really off on this note? Which seems most likely given Singer...

Imo, yes. He nailed the voice so well if you closed your eyes you could swear it was Freddie up on that screen. Also he nails Freddie's little facial ticks like constantly pushing his front lip over his teeth. Everything about his performance is terrific. Once you get to the more emotional aspects of the film Rami becomes a real driving force. He nailed it in every catagory

I will be disappointed if he doesn't get an Oscar nod. He made me feel so much for the "character"... even in the moments when he wasn't being very pleasant. Also, there were times when he would be lit in such a way that he looks exactly like Freddie.

I've read this alot from causal filmgoers over this film. There seems to be a disconnect between the audience and the professional critics.

I've decided to go see the film this weekend. I'm a musician, fan of Queen anyway, and a child of the 80s and 90s, so I pretty much know there story anyway, but I'm gonna see the film .

I was actually going to watch this in cinema but after hearing that the studio fired Bryan Singer in the middle of filming and replaced him with another director, I just couldn't support this movie anymore.

Sorry. But I just really hated it when studios fire director in the midst of filming. That is really disrespectful to the director and his work.

Yeah, but if the reason for him being fired is because he stops showing up for work, I can see why the studio did it.

Are you kidding me? If the director isn't showing up to work and is acting unprofessional, he deserves to get fired. The only one being "disrespectful" was Singer. Fox has a duty to complete a film and release it. So you're just ****ting on hundreds of other people who worked their asses off on this film...

First of all, Singer said that he was unwell/sick and went back home during the holidays.

Fox didn't give him a chance and fire him without hearing him out

But would Bryan Singer want his supporters to skip the film that he directed because Fox fired him? I don't think so.

Anyway, this film is much better than Bryan's last few critical failures, like Apocalypse and the Giant Slayer.

Singer did explain that the reason for his sudden absences near the end of filming was to tend to one of his parents who was ill.

Fox didn't give him a chance and fire him without telling him.

What kind of studio is this?

The movie just left 2 weeks remaining shoot and they choose to fire him.

Anyway, what comes around goes around. Fox get their karma for firing Singer. The studio eventually got acquired by Disney.

Meanwhile, Singer pulled the same stunt on XMA. Kinberg directed for WEEKS when he would disappear. The man is unprofessional, even when you EXCLUDE is sexual escapades.

Now I want to see a major studio biopic film of other singers who aren't alive aymore or bands with a deceased member/s, like the Beatles, Whitney and MJ.

Also Bryan probably wants people to watch the film as he calls it "his film" anyway.

Since when did Singer disappeared from filming X Men Apocalypse and get Kinberg to direct for him?

Kinberg didn't have any directing experiences. Dark Phoenix is his directing debut.

Radio Gaga is a tune. I didn't realize this but Queen had so many iconic good songs even if they only had 4 #1 singles. I expect the soundtrack album to do well in the charts especially in the UK!

I'm glad the film is doing so well, and audiences are loving it. Malek deserves all the praise accolades this awards season and I was afraid he wasn't going to get it due to bts drama. But if the film continues to smash, it can't be ignored.

Radio Gaga is my second fave after A Kind of Magic. I was listening to Queen's Platinum Greatest Hits album the other day and heard "You Don't Fool Me" for the first time and have had it on repeat ever since. I love that after all this time, I'm still discovering their music.
