The IMDb has thousands of voters, 34,000 on Die Another Day alone, so it's the most accurate mass-poll of Bond movies on the net.

I've included Never Say Never Again just for the sake of interest (not that it does very well).

Intresting points......

- Tomorrow Never Dies does better than The World is Not Enough, even though I think I'm the one person who loves TND and TWINE was extremely popular on release.....TWINE actually comes in the bottom five, along with the three films usually named as the worst ever Bond films, Die Another Day, A View to a Kill and Moonraker.

- Goldfinger and Casino Royale are a good .4 beyond all other films, which is probably fair.

- Dr No comes fourth! Surprisingly high.

- There is no way Diamonds are Forever deserves a higher ranking than The Living Daylights, Octopussy, Licence to Kill, Tomorrow Never Dies or The World is Not Enough.

- Connery's films are all in the top half of the table except Never Say Never Again which is waaaaaay down at the bottom.

I'm surprised Octopussy isn't ranked higher than TMWTGG and DAF

Even though I agree with TLD and LTK being so close together, I think thier scores are way off

Intresting how, apart from GoldenEye, Brosnan's films are all in the bottom six.

Would you attribute that to anti-Brosnan sentiment? I would have to say, from a very broad perspective, he seemed to be a well liked Bond. It doesn't seem his movies are remembered as well as the "classic" Bond films

I don't think there is much anto-Brosnan sentiment; until Craig came along, a lot of people on the net atleast had him as their favourite after Connery.

I wouldn't. The IMDB ratings have been like that for some time, and Brosnan enjoyed widespread popularity.

I think the ratings are simply indicative of the fact that those films weren't as beloved as the others. Even some of the other films have nostalgia to give them a facelift. Brosnan's films don't have that (yet). But even so, the ratings are hardly bad as far as IMDB ratings go.

I'd rank TLD lower actually-- it suffers from an identity crisis and perhaps the weakest Bond of the six (imho).

I think people truly love him as Bond, but just don't care that much about his movies.

Goldeneye is my personal #2 (behind Goldfinger) and TND is pretty good. But TWINE bores me to tears and DAD was a joke. But I do think people think fondly of Pierce, it's just that his movies are quite forgettable. Goldeneye is definitely his legacy, and I think it's good enough to single handedly keep his Bond status in good standing. I also think most people weren't ready to give him up yet. I wish he would've gotten another go, with a truly great script (not that I don't love Craig).

Kev, the IMDb ranking isn't accurate since some movies have more voters than others. Its not an equal amount of voters giving each film something between a 1 and 10. The ONLY reason Casino Royale is on top is because its the most recent one and more young people have seen it than some of the older ones.

Absolutely dude, I realise that the IMDb rankings are not valid as anything other than a popularity contest. I simply posted them because I thought others may find them intresting as I do.

A film is more artistic, more intellectual, a movie can have those qualities, but is generally just a lot of fun.
