1) On Her Majesty's Secret Service
2) From Russia With Love
3) Casino Royale
4) Goldfinger

Note that the first 4 are really in no particular order-- I currently can't get myself to decide absolutely on one of them over all the others. Each one of them is excellent and with its own unique charms.

5) Thunderball
6) Dr.No
7) Moonraker (with all the slapstick Jaws stuff and the whole gondola scene edited out.)
8) Diamonds are Forever
9) You Only Live Twice
10) The Spy Who Loved Me
11) Octopussy
12) The World is Not Enough
13) License to Kill
14) The Man with the Golden Gun
15) Live and Let Die
16) Goldeneye
17) The Living Daylights
18) For Your Eyes Only
19) Tomorrow Never Dies
20) A View to a Kill

(I have not seen Die Another Day.)

What does yours look like?

This is a tough list for me to put together. I haven't seen a lot of the movies in a while, but if I had to put together as precise a list as possible, it would probably go something like this:

Any poster who does not place Die Another Day last on their list is either a heretic or a lunatic.

I don't think Die Another Day is worst in the franchise. The movie sucked, but it still had a badass opening. Everything till Bond goes to Cuba was really good in my opinion. It was afterwards when the film went downhill. I think Moonraker is worse than DAD. Moonraker was YOLT done for the THIRD time! Or some would say a TSWLM rehash but with the added bonus that Bond goes to Outer Space.

The hate that Moonraker gets is entirely unwanted. Yes, they are moments when it strays a few steps too far from the traditional Bond formula. Yes, it's a bit of a rehash. And yes, it relies far too heavily on the sci-fi elements. And yes, Jaws falls in love.

But once you get over those, what you have is a solid 007 adventure complete with a top-notch performance by Roger Moore, tight plotting and pacing, a chilling sequence of a beautiful young woman being mauled to death by a pack of wild hounds, a sexy and intelligent Bond girl in Holly Goodhead, a genuinely creepy villian in Drax, some solid action sequences including a fantastic pre-titles sequence, and a fantastic title song.

Is it one of the best? No! As a matter of fact, up until recently I also found it to be the worst of the entire franchise. But after watching it for the first time in several years, my opinion took a complete turnaround. I'm now able to overlook its flaws and find it to be a very solid and entertaining film. Great? No. But it's fun, and vastly superior to Die Another Day.

I think we can all agree that we can find something good in all Bond films.

Very true, but some more than others. DAD for example, has nothing remotely entertaining or worthy of note past the opening sequence. I suppose the Moneypenny virtual sex sequence can be considered notweeworthy for how ****ty it is.

Die Another Day is, probably, the worst in the series.

The studio just tried TOO hard to go over the top, over do everything about Bond, and hype it up like crazy.

Pierce was amazing in Goldeneye, but every film after that starts to suck, big time.

HEY, atleast it has that! Unlike Live & Let Die which possibly has the worst opening in franchise history.

I love the LALD opening. It was risky not to include Bond, but it worked.

Ahem... Moonraker has a pigeon doing a double-take.

Now, and forever, Moonraker is the worst Bond film.

DAD came very close to beating it, but really, it'll take a momentous effort to dethrone the crapfest that was Moonraker.

I thought it worked quite well. It set up the film quite well, in terms of plot and the direction the film was experimenting with.

One quick, humorous scene versus a poorly conceived plot , action scenes so poorly choreographed and over the top (even for Bond), a terrible Bond girl, a by the numbers, phone it in performance by an actor showing signs of age (a big no-no unless you're Roger Moore), bad villians, and a slew of other rediculous elements?

Moonraker is easily better than DAD.

That pretty much sums up Moonraker.

Not really. The plot was actually pretty complex for a Bond film, Moore gave a great performance, Drax was a great villian who managed to actually come across as menacing and creepy, Holly Goodhead was a great Bond girl, the action scenes were pretty solid. And it had a great title song. It's not that bad.

Here's my take on the affair.

Sometimes, you watch a film and simply ask "what the hell were they thinking?"

With DAD, I can understand what they were thinking. It just happened that what they were thinking was an utter load.

Moonraker, on the other hand, is the only Bond film where I can only conclude that they weren't thinking at all, or the entire writing department was on some sort of hallucinogen-based trip. The film contains moments so jarring, so clashing with even Bond-reality, that it completely takes me out of the film.

Moonraker is the worst, bar none. The plot sucks, and was basically a remake of the previous film at any rate. DAD is a close second for worst film, but it is second to the utterly unwatchable Moonraker.

Pity. The book was actually quite good.

Yup, the same plot we got in You Only Live Twice and The Spy Who Loved Me was pretty complex in Moonrake!

*Note the sarcasm!

You are aware that Moonraker was made to cash in on the success of Star Wars? Moonraker wasn't even supposed to be the next movie. Go back and watch the end credits of TSWLM. It says, James Bond will return in For Your Eyes Only. Then, when they saw the massive success of Star Wars they decided to go with Moonraker instead to cash in!

Yup. Even then, it's a horrible film.
