Whoa wait... someone remade Martyrs? I'm not against remakes generally, but that's one film where I can't see anyone else being able to recapture the things that made the original work.

So much garbage this year

Kickboxer: Vengeance the only entertaining thing in the movie was the lead actor recreating Jean Claude Van Damme's cheesy dance moves over the end credits. A hour and a half of that would of been more entertaining than this movies.

Mechanic: Resurrection
Resurrection was like someone's attempt at making one of those corny old eighties/nineties action hero movies except it was played 100% straight. Tommy Lee Jones was the old one who brought any sort of humor or charm to the movie and he doesn't appear until the last 15 minutes of the movie.

Alice Through the Looking Glass I didn't like the first movie and did not see the sequel. I don't know anyone who did.

Divergent :Alligiant I'm amazed this subpar YA dystopian movie has so many sequels when the central concept is done and the romance between the leads is uninteresting because they lack chemistry. I've not read the books but it feels like the main characters were probably teenagers in the books while in the film they are played by twenty and thirty something actors. The characterization would make a hell of alot more sense if they were teenagers in the movie and they hired actors that could convincingly pass for teenagers like the Maze Runner movies cast can.

Gods of Egypt Hollywood needs to stop trying to make Brenton Thwaites happen. He has the charisma of a wet paper bag. Gerard Butler needs a new agent and the acting equivalent of an intervention.

The Huntsman: Winter's War I think the only reason Blunt, Chastain and Theron did this movie is so they can hang out. They probably got paid well also. This film was the definition of a unnecessary prequel/sequel.

The Forest was a bad American attempt at a J-Horror movie.

Ghostbusters painfully unfunny.

It sounds like Assassin's Creed is making a late play for the title.

Movie that I was dissapointed with but still kind of like
Batman v Superman

Movie that I knew going in was garbage but had to see to believe
Independance Day: Resurgence

Movies I didn't see but already knew would suck
Boo! A Madea Halloween
Mechanic Resurrection
Fifty Shades Of Black
Warcraft
Max Steel
Assassin's Creed (based on a video game, what more can you expect)

Not sure if it's been mentioned (it's not on the list in the poll), but I'd have to add Central Intelligence. It was just plain bad, and it wasn't funny at all either. I didn't laugh once throughout the whole movie, and I'm the kind of person who will laugh at nearly anything. I'm never going to watch anything that Kevin Hart is involved with from now on, he's just painfully unfunny.

I only watched the movie because I was on an international flight recently and it was one of the only movies that I hadn't already seen, and I wasn't feeling tired enough to sleep. In retrospect, probably should have just slept for those 1.5 hours...

Not only did they remake Martyrs, they stripped it of everything that made the original special, changing the "point" of the film...but for some reason kept the few flaws the original movie had.

1. The Huntsman: Winter’s War
2. X-Men: Apocalypse
3. Jack Reacher: Never Go Back
4. Gods of Egypt
5. High-Rise
6. Star Trek Beyond
7. Jason Bourne
8. The Legend of Tarzan
9. Knight of Cups
10. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

I’m sure there are other films that are at least as bad as these, but I managed to avoid those so I can’t comment (Dirty Grandpa, London Has Fallen, Miracles From Heaven, The Bronze, Allegiant, God’s Not Dead 2, The Boss, Mother’s Day, Angry Birds, TMNT 2, Alice, Independence Day, Secret Life of Pets, Ghostbusters, Ice Age, Yoga Hosers, I’m Not Ashamed, Inferno, Trolls, Office Christmas Party)

Of the ones listed; BvS, both versions.
The worst movies I've seen so far (mind you, I haven't seen everything in this poll)

1) Sausage Party
2) Suicide Squad
3) The Birth of a Nation
4) Into The Forest
5) Hail, Caesar!
6) Regression
7) Hello My Name is Doris

I think I'm done crying, and I can say Hail, Caesar! is one of my favorites. It's a shame that movie disappointed you this badly.

Any really bad 2016 movies that are NOT on the list?
This good fellow said it before I did.

It sounds like Assassin's Creed is making a late play for the title.

BvS UC was a much better movie, since it was how the Original movie was intended to be, it does not deserve to be in this poll.

Given that BvS is currently LEADING the poll right now, I'd say that it absolutely does deserve to be on this list.

Furthermore, while the UC may indeed be a better film, I think I speak for more than a few fans when I say that I have a hard time sitting down to watch a LONGER version of a movie I hated. I'll probably see the UC at some point, but I'm obviously not in any rush to do so because the theatrical cut was garbage. Had the theatrical version been any good, I'd likely be very interested in seeing an extended cut (like I was when the LOTR special editions came out).

BVS seems to be #1 since its the cool thing to do now don't get me wrong i hated BVS i gave it a 5/10 but its not even in my top 10 of the worse films i have seen this year

Gods Of Egypt
Independence Day:Resurgence
Zoolander 2
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
Fifty Shades Of Black
5th Wave
Dirty Grandpa
Huntsman:Winters War
Ghostbusters
Alice Through The Looking Glass
Allegiant
Ben Hur
Criminal

are all films i'd rank worse in 2016

Bro I kid you not watch Kickboxer: Vengeance. It's THE worst movie i've seen this year. I mean I could've written a better script and I can't write screenplay's.

It has to be either that Huntsman sequel nobody wanted, or that other sequel nobody wanted, Zoolander 2.

Yes, BvS & SS were both terrible, but nowhere near being the worst film of the year. A case could be made for most disappointing, though.

What did they change?

Martyrs I'd probably never watch again because it just disturbed me, but now I'm curious. I imagine it's nowhere near as gorey?

I think that's part of what makes them so bad though. I mean, very few people would walk into God's Not Dead 2 or the latest Madea film and actually expect them to be good. But BvS and SS had a lot of hope riding on them.

Not to mention that Batman vs Superman has a lot larger mainstream appeal and audience potential than a bunch of low budget, low quality, low interest movies that were destined to never make a lot of money to begin with.

Warners expected BvS to do a billion dollars or more and usher in their new expanded universe. Instead it was critically panned, did not make a billion dollars (was $873.3 million) and forced them to extensively reshoot Suicide Squad to not repeat the same mistakes.
