If you were wondering who the artist would be for the three times a month amazing spiderman, ign has posted sample art but aren't allowed to actually say the name of the artist, though the art itself pretty much gives it away...Mr. Chris Bachalo. I know how polarizing an artist like Bachalo can be, but when he's at his best there are few who can match him. Check the images out at ign.com

nice. here's the pic's on ign:

they say they'll be showing more new pic's this week!

Looks like his usual tone and attitude is ever present. Hoping this arc is a good one.

It'll be interesting to see his interpretation of Spidey. I hope he doesn't over use heavy blacks on his run. He could be great...but when he's off, he could be pretty off :p Here's hoping for good things

*crosses fingers...and toes...and webshooters...*

Just depends on what level of darkness we're dealing with in the storyline. I have fond memories of his GENERATION X days. Could be a good thing, could be a bad thing...then again I get a Ramos vibe from these pages.

Aloha,
Please don't mention Ramos and Spider-Man in the same sentence:cmad:

Because it's Bachalo.

I honestly hoped Ron Garney would stay on Spidey. His artwork is great. he just had the bad luck of getting some of the worst Spidey arcs ever.

Can Marvel please do me a favor and never have another grafitti or anime influenced artist on a main stream spider-man book ever again?

"Chris Bachalo (born August 23,1965) is an American comic book illustrator known for his quirky, cartoon-like style."

Yeah... that's what I want on Spider-Man... quirky and cartoony. :down

Seriously... it seems like they are really trying to ruin everything I enjoy about reading Spider-Man. :(

I have a feeling that I won't give a flying flip WHO is illustrating because if OMD goes as badly as predicted, I won't be reading it... :(

It will be easier to take the withdrawl if the art really SUCKS... and anything that resembles Ramos' style would gualify.

Chris Bachalo?

Never heard of him. Does his style fits Spider-Man?

Sure hope he's good

They are trying to find quirky artists who are good at drawing "single" and not "marriage". :woot:

:csad:

So far I like it, Ditko had a quirky style also, so it can be a good thing. I just hope the stories are good.

Never heard of the guy, but unlike the rest of you I can appreciate a range of diverse art styles on Spider-Man and am a big fan of Ramos. So the preview art looks pretty tasty to this web head.

Once we get past OMD and JMS is gone, I know JQ will still be at the helm, but to me it feels like a new exciting era where hopefully ASM will fall into a positive groove. Despite the bizarre release schedule.

Anyone got the "Ultimate War" mini-series?

That was Bachalo.

My sentiments exactly.

ultimate war and his recent stint on x-men are examples of Bachalo at his best

"return to weapon plus" was an example of Bachalo doin not so good

i think it really depends on who's writing for him. the writer really needs to know how to work to his strong points

Ugh....I like Bachalo's older stuff, but he hasn't drawn anythign worth a damn (IMHO) in years. He's also the one who drew the concept of the Iron Spidey suit, if you can recall.

I just wanted a real "IT" artist on the book. It seems like the Spidey books end up scraping the bottom of the barrel lately (Crain, Medina, Bagley, and Immomen aside).

This is the book that used to be THE place for great artwork (and stories), and it's just become generic lately.

Still, here's hoping I'm proven wrong and we get some stellar stuff.

IMO - at least - "cartoony" fits VERY well with Spider-Man. Look at Wieringo's work on Spider-Man/Fantastic Four or Todd Nauck's FNSM. Both, I think, a fabulous visual renditions of the character. Hell, I'd even classify Steve Ditko as being "cartoony".

Hmm...are they teasing the different art teams that will be in rotation after OMD?
