He was a great choice I think. Now when I see Superman, I see Routh.

Yes he's really the Firestorm artist

He was okay, I never really felt a sense of awe from him. He seemed akward in some scene as if he was embrassed to be there. He was okay, but nothing great.

Routh wasn't the problem...singer was. makes me regret not seeing burton's vision

I actually feel as if singer should have stuck with xmen and ratner should have done this.

superman never needed heavy drama added to it. we saw that in the donner origin story. I actually wanted mindless fun on this trip. where as xmen needed the most story telling possible. xmen should have been 3hours long

I think the should've traded everything.

Singer ruins superman, ratner ruins xmen, nolan revives batman. which had the lowest budget???!!!! tells you something huh?!

He ain't no George Reeves, but then, who is? Liked him better than Chris Reeve, though, but that's no big deal, cause I hated CR as Superman.

He wasn't great and he wasn't bad. Where's the middle ground on this poll?

He did a very good job. Not Reeve, but very good though.

And he kick ass in it. I even get to meet him in person this Sun. at a comic book convention near my hometown. You should see some of his sketches & b/w pagebook. They are simply amazing. Cool guy as well. Nice to meet you, Jamal!!

Brandon Routh did great as Superman, I prefer him to popular choices such as Tom Welling, Dean Cain and even Christopher Reeves himself! But believably, he wouldn't be a '5-years after Christopher Reeves' Superman, nor would Kate Bosworth. They should've just restarted the series with a young Superman, Routh, and a young Lois, Bosworth. Both first rate casting choices!

the reason why Welling OWNZ this role right now is because he's doing an original take on the character
Welling is not doing an original take on the character - Welling plays 'Tom Welling with super powers'. I see absolutely no trace of Superman in him. Even Dean Cain got a tad closer than him.

How can Matt vote that Routh was a bad choice if he has yet to see the film?

for every 1 fan on SHH who doesn't approve of Routh there are 4 and a half that do.

and there are people who actually think the majority hate Routh???

My vote: He was a great casting choice. :)

TO ME Routh is still not Superman, he does not have the build or the face.

To me, his face is great for the character and his presence was also good enough to carry the role.

I hope he comes back.

Been a while since I been back here.

Yep, I finally saw Superman today actually, a bit delayed - I know.

I really enjoyed it though. I would have liked a bit more eye-candy in terms of action, and a tad less romance and drama, but overall I was really engaged. The action that they did show was off the hook.

Now for Brandon Routh:

He's good to look at and did a pretty fair job actually. I mean the guy has big shoes to fill with Reeve being his preceedor, but I thought he did great. Especially at keeping his character work for Kent and Superman quite distinguishably different.

Kate was cute as hell in the movie, just a fine woman, good performance.

I would say that he was a good superman. But Christopher Reeve is Superman,he will be for atleast another generation.

Routh should have been a little bit more muscular, like working out a bit more.

he seemed awkward at first on the farm, but he played metropolis clark and supes rather well despite how he was written I thought. There's great potential in him to play supes in much better stories if ever there are sequels.

I think Routh was extremely good, especially considering this is his first major role. I'd bestow every plaudit upon him except saying he's as good as Christopher Reeve.

He was surprisingly good. Not great, but certainly above average.

I'd like to see him pack on more muscle for the sequel...I think that will take some of that "boyish" look away. I see him growing in the role.
